i'm planning to take the mrs down to the south of france at some point so will need a spare bulb kit. all good except i didn't realise how much HID bulbs are!!! :o
so, are the cheap(er) ones on ebay etc any good or should i start saving and just stick to osram/philips ones? i was thinking of something around the 5000k temp if anyone has any suggestions.
also, are they easy to fit? as in just like normal halogen bulbs?
muchos grassy-arse.

I don't believe you're expected to change 'bulbs' at the side of the road in French France that you'd need the use of tools for. I took a standard spare bulb kit with me in my Omega ie HID not included ....... just flip the RHD/LHD shutter on the ferry/in the tunnel & don't worry about it :y :y :y

Officially a dealer item to replace so don't worry.

If you do decide to get some spare lamps, don't buy cheap ones, problematic

As the handbook says its dealer only, you do not need a spare bulb for HIDs, as Joe Public can't change then anyway, only a dealer.
Hence I'm not taking spare HIDs when I go over there in a couple of weeks (actually, I may, just in case one fails, and I have spares here anyway)

ahhh, okay, that's good to know. i think i might buy a couple of standard philips ones anyway at some point. thanks!

That's what I do, although I forgot to adjust the lights until I got back to Calais! Whilst waiting to board I opened the bonnet to flip them back, which was when I remembered that we didn't stop at Dover; just drove away from check-in and went straight onto the boat.
