I would buy a few items from that lot. Then put them in my shed and never use them.
-
Pity that wasnt a mig welder :( Although its cheap enough for arc welder ... mite pick up some of those pliers :)
-
Yeah, I keep hoping they'll get a cheap gas-capable MIG in. One day I'll bite the bullet and buy a decent one, most likely. 'course I also want a TIG set and those make decent MIGs look cheap!
-
I would buy a few items from that lot. ...and then send them to my best friend, Mr Opti. Wow, what a great guy he is :)

The pliers are a bit lightweight but the snub nosed ones are very handy :y

Being an aviationist, you should automatically have three of anything :y

I'd like another two realities, please. The weather in one of them must be OK. ::)

I was looking at the generator, but that is probably what would happen.
Thanks ! you just saved me some cash :y (NO I wont send any to you ;D)

I think they should state the noise level on the generator , 3 year warranty is good though :)

This looks like the same model

And I found this from an earlier promotion, which comments on noise

I want the welder but what can you do with that one?? apart from weld obviously. Is this more for "agricultural" type stuff?

'kin deafening given that it's open frame. ;D
Probably not as bad as my diseasel open frame job, though. ::)

A quick answer is "not a lot". I think it would be difficult to learn with, and lead to frustration.
would be OK for up to maybe 1/4in (6mm) thick, but would overheat VERY quickly.
*maybe* OK for thinner stuff (couple of mm), such as 25mm square tube (market stalls).
Might be OK to knock up gates or "wrought iron" work.
TBH, if you've not done any welding, I'd avoid it - go for a higher power (160A ish).
In a nutshell:
Arc welding isn't good for thin metal, and this one is barely powerful enough to do thicker stuff.
It's NOT gonna work on car bodywork

That Tap & Wrench Set looks good and 2 year warranty , got to be worth that :)
-
I think you will find the Aldi welder is better. I bought mine a few years ago for £29.99 and it goes from 40 to 160 amps. I think last year the same model was £35. :y :y :y

It might well be - once that stuff has bu66ered your lambda sensors and clogged the oil pickup.
-
I've got one of those Arc welders going spare if anyone wants it. Unused.

:y I bought one of the socket sets today , I've defo seen a lot worse , time will tell :-\

I went along to Lidl yesterday, just for food things mainly. Saw the generator, saw the arc welder, sockets set and othe car-type things.
And I bought . . . . . An "Ernesto" brand ceramic frying pan for £8.99 ! I took it straight home and used it. It's fantastic. Heats quickly and gets really hot, so should be very economical. :y I may go back to get one of the larger size also. I also got one of the small kitchen knives of the same brand. The only thing is that if you care about how things look, they are pure white with bright green or orange handles.

At that current it will struggle to do more than 3-4mm

Bought the Tap Set whilst in there yesterday, doesn't seem too bad quality, handy having the the right drill bits with them though, dont expect them to last long, having said that I've manage to break some really expensive Taps before now, so for £8. ;)
