Title: Bing vs Google - Bing it on Challenge
Post by: zirk on 24 May 2014, 13:09:21
Microsoft Bing are trying to win over users of Google as a search engine -

So heres the Challenge - http://www.bingiton.com/?FORM=MD10CP&OCID=MD10CP

Thought I'd give it go as a Google user, as Im sure most people are, your ask to do 5 searches, the results are then listed side by side.

I chose search questions that were unusual and voted on what I would expect to see listed.

my Result was Google won 5, and Bing won 0.  ;D

Did it last year, Google 5, Bing 0.

Did it again this year, Google 4, Bing 1. So they are improving. I should give it another go in 5 years time.

I use Dogpile. Ok I know that this simply searches other search engines, but I got fed up with the advert crap and sponsored links on Google.   >:(

I really didn't know whether to click on that link or not, thinking it might take me to a world of casual voyourism and easy sex.  :-\

But it's that big red button with the " DO NOT PRESS " notice again!  ;)  ;D

I should try the challenge...  ...one day ;D

I find, in day to day use, both give broadly similar results for common subjects, and its worth using both for more niche stuff.

Google hasn't been working for me now for about 7 hours. Under these circumstances Bing wins hands down again!

I generally find Bing utterly useless

All search engines should be used together. Bing ain't too bad, generally returns pretty much the same results as Google.

Who do you trust more with your privacy though, MS or Google. Tough call.
