Hope someone can help
I have a 2002 2.6 and recently the tick over has become slightly rough. The revs aren't blipping up and down but it just feels a bit juddery. If I touch the accelerator and get the revs up a notch it feels smooth again. Performance hasnt seemed to change when running though.
It's done 85,000 miles and I mainly use the car around town with occasional blasts on the motorway.
Any advice appreciated
Thanks

Any Fault Codes?, do a Peddle Trick Test.
Check for any miss fires, check Oil or Water in the Spark Plug Wells, whilst checking the Spark Plug condition.

Thanks for the reply.
Had new plugs in December but I will check the wells, does it seem more likely a misfire than say the breather pipes?
If there is oil or water in the wells where would that have come from?

Just because the Plugs were changed 6 months ago, doesn't necessarily mean its not miss firing, it could be anything but plugs (and what tell tale signs there showing) and fluid in the wells would always be my first call on the V6's before goinf down Fuel, Air flow, Maf etc.
If you think the breathers might be blocked clean them. :y
Any Codes??

I'll do the pedal trick tonight and check for codes.
Was planning on doing the breathers but as I don't have much mechanical experience I'm worried I'll start something I can't finish or make matters worse.
Appreciate your help though and I'll put the codes up tomorrow if I get any.

Oil, normally from the Cam Covers Gaskets which leak due to blocked breathers and build up of pressure or from poor cheap replacement CC Gasket Seals, wrong sealent, or over tightening of the Cover Bolts.
Water, normally from the Scuttle Panel (lower Windscreen), cracked, broken, drain hole blocked or not been fitted back properly during a former Service.

Many thanks will check it out later today

Just got home and tried the pedal trick. Constant flashing so assume no error codes.
Haven't checked plug wells yet but checked all round engine and can't find any surface oil.
The mystery continues. I'm having a new AC condensor fitted on Saturday so will take a look in the breather pipes and plug wells then.

Had exactly the same myself a little while ago, and did eventually get a cylinder 2 miss fire code. Seems to creep up on you.
Got gradually worse and went into limp mode a few times when following slow cars. (Auto and the revs dropped below 1000)
This could be cleared by turning of engine and restarting. As your not getting the code yet, might be worth getting a Tech11 check to find which side is causing the problem.
Turned out to be the coil pack, which was the main suggestion on the forum, so replaced and all is now fine. All plug wells were clean and dry.
Have noticed that the MPG is now improving and engine revs quicker and smoother.
Also as recommended by the forum, fitted a Bosch replacement, not a cheap one.

Many thanks Elmstoneboy
Where did you get your coil pack from?

Got mine from these guys in 2 days.
They are genuine Bosch.
The link is for the 1,3,5 bank. The other side is a wee bit more expensive. :y

Thanks for the link
Best price for the coil pack Ive seen so far. I'll keep an eye on the codes and try to get a techII in the meantime

I cheated and got the garage to do it for me. :)
Links on previous post look ok.
