Title: What is this on the rear of the v6?
Post by: Andy89 on 08 June 2014, 21:10:57
Hi

Does anybody know what this is for, and what controls it? (What I've circled in red)

Purge valve for the emission control system :y

Basically fumes from the fuel tank get collected in a cannister behind the offside front wing. Pipe runs to that circled lump, which the ecu opens periodically to draw the fumes into the air intake via the breather bridge :y

So it's the fuel tank ventilation, thank you  :)
What would I need to do if I disconnect this valve?

(getting rid of original ecu)

Just disconnect the valve electrically. It'll remain closed so shouldn't cause any problems.

If it's still in the Omega, then leave the pipe to the canister open to air so the tank can breathe.

Then I'll just remove the pipes between the valve and the canister when the time comes, just working on the wiring harness for now, thank you  :y
