This car is only 25 mls from me, but I was thinking if it were just the crank sensor the bloke would have done it, I'm smelling a rodent, it could be a steal or a expensive lemon  :-/

Do a paperclip test and check the lead - when you collect drive it away

Says he has been given a new car, so just want's rid, depends who has quoted him on repairs, he may think it is not worth.

There hve been a few Japanese imports around recently.

You need to investigate.

Ask him how he knows it's crank sensor.
Pop down there with a paperclip and look for a 19.

If you get one, chances are it's a good buy.
If you don't, assume it's a slipped cambelt !!

What worries me is that it is only rated by the owner in his blurb as a "2.4", so it is underpowered before you start! ;D ;D ;D ;)
