Today swmbo and I moved into our new pad in Buckinghamshire , after having a flat for a year as a stop gap
We have a lovely garden now which means I can grow my own veg and get a dog, and have bb q's :)
I also have a GARAGE :) which is something I've never had. It's not large but, I can get the omega estate in with enough room to get around the edges, I plan to kit it out with lighting and neatly arrange my tools and kit, so it will provide an excellent shelter for tinkering jobs such as cambelts/servicing in the winter/wet and dark months :)
Also we live a stones throw from the ridgeway so loads of lovely countryside walks and nice pubs
Overall rather happy at present :y
-
Nice one, hope you are happy in your new home......... :y :y

Congrats. You should paint and seal the floor in the garage (if you bought it?), does wonders. Lights MarksDTM recommended are fab too.
Got my first garage few months back, this is what I did:

And don't forget your brief case. :-\ ;D
Full of IT tools. Did a spot of contracting. Server room clean out. Lots useful screw drivers and wire cutters & random things.

I bet it will be when next you show us a pic of the contents, to prove its not full of Wrong way down magazines. ;D

tunnie - Those shelves look far too empty, I know for a fact that they can take far more ::)
JamesV6CDX - good on ya. Down south I guess if you're near the Ridgeway?

Yup, but got the beer fridge in there too :D
My advice James is get the painting down now, all too quickly it will fill with crap. Best get it done early!

Although to be fair, there is a screw driver present to justify those heavy duty shelves. :y

IT tools with screw drivers and wire cutters hints at wiring type activities......are you sure that's wise given your Senator wiring jobs lol :y

Don't be silly, Uncle R wouldn't let tunnie near electricity. He's a keyboard monkey, so the briefcase will have nail varnish and a nail file :P
Oh shit, I'm a keyboard monkey now :-[
-
I know my abilities ::) ;D
That's why the lights were put Martian/Andy Roid :)
It's a bit different now, and because there is some unnatural interest in the case...

WRT case, I like the look of that delicate tool with the wooden handle
-
Electrics? Whats with the 4 way extension lead above fridges? I'd prefer the drier to be plugged directly in a socket...

Errr yeah ::)
-
Magazines must be in the top of the case... Sammy is presumably for when turning it of and on again doesn't work ;D

I thought you said you had the electrics done? Not specify enough sockets in the right places?

A students Sammy ;D

Two sockets near by but the dryers lead is as short, guess I could swap them around & run fridge/freezer off 4 way and drier into the wall

Aye, if he used a bigger one Mrs T might get all disappointed ;D

I agree with TB....that tumble drier on high...could be 2kw....thats approx 8amps.....plus the other stuff you plugged into it.....i certainly wouldnt be leaving it turned on and go to bed :-X
-
Have those tools actually ever been used or do you polish them after every use ???

Just swapped them around, now goes dryer, freezer fridge. cheers for tip :)

Hardly used, taken from contracting job. Use them for odd jobs. Got a much bigger set of oil covered tools for car work ;)
-
Yeah yeah. Quick scurry round, chuck some tools in the brief case, take a pic. As said previously. :P
;D just spoke to Tunnie by text. He says "can they all just F off!" ;D
-
Who else on here wears a shirt, tie and suit with briefcase full of tools to work on their car? ::) :o :P ;D
-
Not me. ;D
-
That's a toffee hammer.
Also beware, that looks to be a condensing tumble dryer so it will create a nice high humidity environment in that garage for you.....
-
Can you still get the car in there Tunnie :(
-
Lol no way. Just bike and tools and other things you see :)
-
Next house. Double garage :D
-
Painting the floor and walls is a good start, but top of my list would be a good engineer's vice bolted to a sturdy bench. That makes a lot of otherwise awkward jobs much easier, and is money well spent.

:y
Agreed there , just second nature to use it .. would be lost without one :y

Good luck round your way. In fact good luck anywhere from anywhere between Jcn 11 of m4 and tother side of London for a non integral proper double
...although I'm also looking for detached and a peaceful less crowded location.

The Red Baron's got to you, hasn't he? ;)

I saw this yesterday... oh so tempting:

Detached double garage, cottagey, out of the way, nice views...

Nah, I shot him down last week.
Road noise, Heathtow flight paths, nosey neighbours and a generally over populated area all need to be accounted for when moving purely for a double garage. Orbit becomes the most expensive double garage in the world, given the price jump.

We don't want your Readingite sort up 'ere ;D. I hear Cornwall is quiet most of the year ;D
I think I'm safe though, 2 airstrips within a mile as the crow flies, plus that silly charade up the road in a couple of weeks, its far too noisy here :'(
-
Oh yeah, add angry chavs in tracky bottoms that shout at everyone while driving, like a drunk on the local park bench to the avoid list as well. Especially if they've got the painters in this week. ;D

Yeah you've outdone me there, such things haven't been invented here yet :)
(Sadly, I guess they will be in my lifetime :'()

I'd expect more for the monies in Cornwall, guess it's more expensive than I thought down there. :-\

Oh they so have. It's just your neighbours are far too polite.... :-X
;D :P ;D

If you want somewhere with a sea view, modern, well appointed.. take what you'd pay up here and double it.
E.g. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-29825424.html
I'd expect the five bed place we stayed last year to be up in the 1.2-1.5million range..
-
Ouch! :o
-
Needs to be west coast IMO. To get the sunsets. :)
Although, of your an early bird, that'll do it. :y
-
Ouch! :o
To be fair it's a very large house (easily £5-600,000 here) with views directly down into the bay & beach from the back of the house; which is entirely glass with a half balcony outside..
If I ever win the lottery.. ;D
-
Here you go...
£605,000 and if you don't like the view, turn it round :y plenty of garage space too...

-
Do they do real ale yachts too? ::)
-
Anyway, you've already found the house last time you were here.
Bedroom might be above the garage, but there's a shed to keep your gas cylinders in. :-X

;D If I were in the market for a boat (i.e. if I'd won the lottery) I think I'd be after something more like this:
http://www.4and5star.com/40m-sailing-yacht/
Only if I had limitless money, though - boats are expensive to keep (like planes and women) ;)
