Hi All,
finally got myself a cheapie 3.2 Elite . Not bad all round, needs a little TLC here & there, but EML is on . Previous owner says its been on for a year but car runs as good as it always has , vx diagnosed it as an O2 sensor problem he says.
So . . . can this fault be rectified easily or is it the case of "moving" the sensor position in the exhaust as I have read on here somewhere.
Does the better grade fuel help ? :-\
I know sweet fanny adams about this fault . . . so any advice greatly appriciated ;) ;)
tried the search button . . . but could not really find anything :-\ :-\
Regards, Al
Edit: oops ! should this be in electricals :-[ :-[ :-[

pedal trick to get the codes ...
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90581.0
pound to a pinch of poo ... 0420 and or 0430 .. common as muck on the 3.2 .... reset and live with it coming on every so often, or move the sensor... sometimes higher octane fuel (shell v-max etc) and drive it like you stole it for a tank full can clean it up for a short while .. but as i was told when I got mine .. its not "IF" this fault occurs ..its "WHEN" ..... :)

give it an Italian tune up with a tankfull of super unleaded a few times. or get the pre-cat lamdas moved behind the main cats or the ultimate fix, is fit 3.0L downpipes with pre-cat lamdas after main cats. :y

Will get the codes once I get the car home . Collecting it tomorrow. No damage to be done by driving with the light on then ?
Out of curiosity . . . although car is tested until Jan 2015 . . . will it pass another MOT with that light on ? :-\ :-\

If it's P0420 or 0430 then get Loo Knee or Serek to weld you in two new boses post Cat and fit two new O2 sensors.
I know people say you can remove the old ones and move them but I've not managed this successfully. Far easier too buy two new ones from Lambdapower.co.uk

As Entwood says Al, have gone belt and braces on this one, (my choice ::)) new 3.0 ltr cats :-X and Lambdas relocated on both 3.2's and hopefully that's the problem sorted.

Without the codes, we are speculating....

If the light isn't on, then it's either not a real 3.2, or the bulb has blown ;D

My 3.2 still has the EML off....

I did spy a 0420 and 0430 in there (along with a stack of others) when I was comparing some values for a certain used car seller, so its coming. Just hasn't brought on the EML yet.

right Mr. TB . . here we go 0420 0430 0300 0306 0305 0130
This is the first 3.2 I have had . . . seems very rapid compared to all the other omegas I've had ;) ;) ;)

I assume its not LPG converted? No signs of a misfire?
Clear out the codes, see what comes back - I suspect none will for a while.

No LPG no misfire. Tried to clear codes with my cheapie code reader, but will not work on this car . Was ok on the 2.6
Shows 11 engine codes stored but will not identify them or remove them . :-\ :-\

Should do, its ODBII compliant

Yer thats what I thought Jamie. Just put same code reader on Bruvs Vivaro van & all working fine .
cleared codes no problem on the 2.6 but On this 3.2 it gets as far as telling that codes are stored , but will not complete the identity scan , stops half way on the progress bar :-\ :-\ :-\
Will try & borrow another reader tomorrow ;)
