Title: Vacuum leak or not? Sucking sound but carb cleaner doesn't affect idle. Yours?
Post by: car5car on 19 June 2014, 16:05:27
Is there sucking sound under hood(bonnet) of your car? 3.0 engine.
Thanks.
I was replacing valve cover gaskets and after I put everything back together noticed the sound. I don't know if it was there before. Engine runs fine, no codes. About 590-600 idle RPM, is it normal?

You say you've used carb cleaner in the heading , but don't say how in the text ....

lightly spray carb cleaner around while the engine is running, when the revs suddenly rise you've found the suction point !! make sure the carb cleaner is directed along all joint areas so it has a chance of being sucked in ... (the carb cleaner is being burned as unmetered fuel ). Fix leak, wipe engine down .. result a nice clean properly working engine ...  Sorted :)
