Title: Causes of Death Worldwide
Post by: Rods2 on 22 June 2014, 14:26:36
These are a well presented, so when a news article is talking about deaths from a particular soaring health problem, these statistics will put it into perspective. There are also several other interesting data sets on the website including diabetes rates per country.

By far the biggest cause is heart disease, followed by strokes, then COPD and lung cancer. For age groups, the lowest mortality age group is for 10-14 year olds and the highest for men and women is 80+. Male death rates are consistently higher, with much higher rates for accidents below 40 and much higher for illness above. The higher rate for above 40 I'm sure is linked to much higher global smoking rates for men compared to women.
