Title: BBC i player
Post by: Elite Pete on 18 June 2008, 08:58:36
Wifey watched the whole of the Great British Menu series on BBC2 but missed the final so last night the moaning got that bad that I decided to see if I could get the final from somewhere. I was dead impressed that I managed to download the BBC iplayer and program and it works but now wifey is moaning about sitting in front of the computer to watch it. Does anyone know if I can copy the program to a disc.

TIA :y

no you can't (officially) but if you have cable you can get the Iplayer on there by pressing the red button on any bbc channel.

afraid not there systems aren't able to supply the on demand service.
other way is get a cable from your pc and hook it up to your TV.

You could look at using video capture software but the quality is not that great.
I would just tell her to sit down and enjoy the fact she at least didn't miss the program....

Kontiki dowloaded version

There are DRM strippers so you can play the WMV on a WMV supporting DVD player, this is NOT illegal in the UK for personal use.

Fair Usage (ie copy between devices) is no problem, selling is, loaning that I don't know.

Anyway look for sites about fair use and wmv and you will find how to play it on a DVD player, and not illegal in Europe for personal use.

Flash stream

Some consoles can play BBC Iplayer streams

And also the Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

At least BBC iPlayer is better than the ITV Catchup - I want to see the missing episode of Pushing Daisies, but this can only be streamed - you can't download it to watch in bits and pieces when you can fit it in

Try cablecity.com or .co.uk I have found them to be very good and knowledgable.  :y

If you Download the lastest version of Realplayer, it sits in the background and allows you to Save the whole Stream weither you watch the whole Stream or not.

regarding cables it depends on your graphics card.
but normally you will find shorter versions of the required cables that came with the PC. you will need sound leads in most cases though

I personally have an s-video out on my laptop and pc so use a s-video to composite (the yellow rca phono type) adapter, and then a long composite video lead to either the tv or a projector depending on what i'm watching! oh and an audio lead to the hifi too :)

i watch loads of tv this way, either through the i-player (cause i download it then have a month to watch it), or from other sources that enable me to watch us series yet to be broadcast here!

most of the time it's as good if not better than watching on tv. although catch up tv through cable (virgin media) is good if you get there in time!

if your graphics card only has a vga out then there are adapter cables that can convert this to composite video but they can get pricey!
