Title: Glastonbury . . . . . . ?
Post by: Rog on 29 June 2014, 22:52:45

I'm a huge music person, I go to gigs, yes even festivals, buy physical CDs, nope no iTunes. But I like stuff. . . . . . .

Switched on Glasto ? OK watch it. "Disclosure" I do not understand how an act that is so boooooooooring can be so prominent on the BBC  or Glasto line up. F*** music to fall asleep to or what  8)

My question: Where is the rebelious youth of today. I mean they are certainly not at glastonbury.

I've never been, and kinda regret it..  :-\

I think I should have gone in my yoot back in the late '80s when it was more about getting off your tits on dubious substances and free luurve with a bit of live music thrown in!  8)

Life is kinda like that though... a bucket of dreams, brimming with things you wish you'd done, intertwined with things you wish you hadn't... :-\

Nearly as interesting as Elbow, the way they are talked about you would think they were Gods

Glastonbury is not a festival anymore, its a very slick marketing tool, for the corporate sponsors of the music industry. Its not about the music its about being seen with the right people, hence why the bbc get unparallelled, access, so people can be seen being at "gllasto" its now just a date on the marketing calendar, like henly and the gp.

Done it twice.back in the black & white days. You could go down there and pay a £10 donation to CND and then walk in. But if you came out you paid again.

Not like that now, It costs you a bomb and tickets sell out soon after being put on line.

I miss my hippy chick look and my later rock girl chick image.  All gone now, along with the rebellious youth! :'( :'( :'( :'(

Still see some Goth's and punks, but apart from that just right scruffs with no fashion sense! ::) ::) ::) ::)

Such a shame.

Watched on the TV never been, Metallica, Dolly and the Kasier Chiefs great, also a big fan of the Manics though they did not get much air time this year. Already strong rumours that AC/DC have been blagged for next year.

I used to go to Reading in the very early days when it was called National Blues and Rock festival or something like that, and various others. Then no festivals for many years due to work, kids, life etc. Then started again when the kids were old enough to come along. Now the kids have their own lives so Mrs and I do one or maybe two a year. Download being our favourite.

But, never done Glasto and don't want to.
1. It's just too damned big
2. I don't camp and there are no cheap hotels nearby
3. Not my style of music
4. Can't be arsed with the scramble for tickets
5. It always rains

 . . . . . and loads of other reasons  :y

Kasabian and Jake Bug for me where two of the best live acts they had, Metallica were also very good.
