Title: DA Polisher Results Nocturno Blue
Post by: Mr.OmegaMan on 30 June 2014, 19:44:11
First time user with a DA polisher, The machine is a 750W 2,500-6,800 RPM with 6 settings, Took 6 hours roughly to do the roof, boot lid, one rear wing.  :-X

The results are much better IMO...  :y

Not looking forward to doing the rest of the car though  ;D

There was a bit of a shock near to the end, One of the foam pads exploded  :o

Nice job.  :y
It's the base work that is hardest, getting rid of swirls and light scratches. The polishing and sealing is not too bad.  :y

We have a Makita variable speed polisher.  :y We use ValetPro Achilles Prep for the swirls/micro marring, followed by Menzerna Polish to remove any holograms. After that, one of the more common polishes like Meguiars NXT for the shine and finished off with 476S Collinite to seal it.  :y

It can become a challenge to get a near perfect reflection.   :)

Aye I used 476S to seal all that work, Good stuff, Epic beading  :y

from the pictures..  polishing is not complete yet.. you need finer grades and a softer pad

but be careful if its an original laquer ..

Could be the camera mind it's only my iPhone's camera  :-\, I'm no expert on paint mind, I presume it's original paintwork..

I'm happy with the finish personally, My main goal was to get rid of the swirl marks, Never noticed swirl marks as much on the silver one, But this one  :o ;D

Arms still feel kinda sore even now, Hopefully can finish the rest of the car soon  :y

no hurries .. take your time.. one piece per day or may be in two.. no more.. :y

if you want to get rid of swirl marks , 3m trizact 3000 or 4000 or even (5k ,6k) will make your job easier.. so you will spend less time in polishing..  lowest rpm possible with lots of water and careful on sharp corners..

Another 6 hours got me from rear wing to the front wing drivers side :-X ;D

Bugger for punishment, Must be...  :D

Sorry forgot to take a Before picture and I'm too knackered to turn the car around to take a picture of the side yet to do, Also excuse the 2 white marks on the tyre, Haven't got round to the finer detail just yet... Yes the bench is rather close to the paint  ::) ;D

I do use rain water now though from the collecting tank so that could be making a difference being soft water and no messy lime scale residue  :y
