Advice required guys please. for the '53 plate 3.2 elite. Drivers door is going to be changed & I have one coming in the right colour, complete door as it comes off (door card/mirror & lock inc.)
I am also getting 1 key for that door . . . so . . . . can i just put the door on as is & will the central locking work off of my original key / But If I need/want to ,manually lock /open it ,I will use the key supplied with the door .
Will this work ? Also I know I have to check that the door speaker is a Bose one :D
TIA Al :y

As your taking door card off why not change handles over at the same time :y

Is not changing the lock barrel a bit of a nightmare? :-\ :-\ just looking for an easy way out for the time being :-[ :-[

Easy job to swap over the whole exterior handle. Not doing so will bite you in the arse one day when the battery (either car, or fob) dies at the most inconvenient time.

Door card off, two nuts and unhook the rods :y

Oh in that case . . . I will change it then . Somewhere or for some reason I had it in my head that it was a right tricky little bugger to do ::) ::)

But I will have the key for that new door TB . To open manually if needed :-\
But I will change it over now that i know it;s fairly simple job :-* :-* Thank you

Should be a breeze with my hands then. . . like No.1 coal shovels ? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I would still like to know though . . if . . the new door with it's own lock will open with all the other 3 doors, with the central locking, with my existing key fob? :-\ :-\ :-\

It will do, but if you try and use the current key in the new barrel, even once, then you'll be changing the lock :y

So you're really considering carrying 2 keys around :o
The hardest part, honestly, is removal of doorcard and dampproof membrane.
