my key wont operate ignition its solid. Easy fix or not ? Steering lock also on now :-X

Try taking tension off steering wheel and giving key a good wiggle.Hopefully it will turn.Just had same problem with mine, luckily it did release so I took barrel out and cleaned it all and added graphite powder to lube it all up.Didn't want this to happen again so I bought a new barrel from vx at a cost of £63 Just ask for a barrel to fit original key.You will need car pass with key number on and v5 documents.Hope you get it sorted.

I've seen 4 Vauxhalls in the last fortnight with jammed ignitions. This is common in hot weather. Everyone had a story that it had been getting a bit stiff. A good squirt of switch cleaner(NOT WD40 or similar) might get it loose. But it rarely does, and you'll be looking at a new barrel plus the fitting. Which is really tricky when you can't turn the key.
Do yourself a favour, and rebuild or replace your lock barrel as soon a it starts to play up!!

Once removed, you can buy new tumblers for just a few quid. http://www.nwkeys.co.uk/Portal.aspx?page=43&cat=131&prod=7389

I'd very much doubt it is. TC is usually consumable service parts.

Andy B, are they easy to replace?
I can't see a price on that page?
Is that the correct one to fit a 2003?
Thanks

L925FDC Senator 3.0 24valve saloon ex-police
I had one set solid on a Senator. No locksmith would touch it. I had to put a drill down the middle. It was really quite easy. It suddenly fell to bits, then I could turn the barrel with a screwdriver, drive the car, and extract the barrel.

I can't remember the exact price, but they were cheap .... maybe I phoned for a price :-\ :-\ There's a guide on re-furbing your ignition barrel. It's easy enough, just don't get them mixed up ;) The hard part will be getting your barrel to turn so you can remove it. :-\

When this happened on our first Omega, in swmbo hands by then, she called the AA who put on some mole grips and forced the key to turn, never a problem again but she carried a set of mole grips in the glove box for about 2 years................ :D :D
