Title: Tom Tom
Post by: Lagondanet on 19 July 2014, 12:27:37
My Tom Tom Go 720 has finally given up the ghost after many years of good service. Need a replacement. Anyone care to share their experience of the current Tom Tom range?

Havent bothered using my TT, since i got an iphone4. I use google maps on it, in some respects its better (ie you can search for building names, does traffic, which you dont have to pay for) and in other ways no so good (ie doesnt always pick the shortest route as an option, of the, usually 3 routes its gives you a choice of)

If you look at the end of the Aston Expressway, you may still find bits of my last TT Go.

It died a deserved death, I hope it was painful.

Useless bloody things.

Tomtom app on iphone here. Work very well. Ignoring, the techno fobe admin above, and the fact it won't talk to the Bluetooth hands free in the car.

Have a Go6000 here, and an older GO750, the newer one being the danglies, almost as good as Comand in the Merc, the Go750 is ok, and only soldiers on as it currently doubles as a handsfree phone in the Omega ::)

if you don't need European coverage, then go for the cheapest unit with free lifetime map upgrades. In my experience tom tom offer the easiest updates, Garmin is a lot of mucking about. Also look for a device that takes a memory card. My current tom tom start 25 has full European, and gives excellent service here and in the foreign :)

Just get a decent atlas (21/2 inches to the mile), then ask when you are nearly there. :y

Just bought a Tom Tom Start. Actually don't use a satnav that much but like to have one for the odd journey. I have an atlas too and am also always buying maps, obsessive that I am.  :-[
