How much would I be looking at to replace a pair of these on a fl saloon V6 :-[
-
From Vauxhall?! My FL MV6 was equipped with brand new dealer-fit GM cats just before I bought it. Cost a grand iirc. :o
-
Pattern ones are about £80 a side.
-
Are the pattern ones ok or should i try and source second hand from Vauxhall specialist breakers?
-
Entirely up to you, but used exhausts are a real crapshoot in the best of circumstances, and cats are very easily damaged. Any used ones you find are likely to be at least 10 years old, and are best considered at the end of their life.
There's a new one on the passenger side of my car, and I wish I'd replaced the other on when I did the rest of the exhaust a month ago.

Don't get second hand, they are very, very poor. Sound awful and won't last, you are better off getting second hand genuine of a breaker here :y
-
I did put a request out on here for a pair but to no avail.... Which company would i use to get new ones other than GM ?

Typo fixed.
There are several threads re pattern cats being substandard. Not surprising when you consider the cost and build quality. Pre cats on the Dbw cars aside as that's a different issue and yours dosnt have them anyway, the gm v6 cats are pretty bullet proof, unless there's been a fuelling issue to damage them.
I wouldn't hesitate to fit the used gm cats on an omega, as a rule. Cheapest and most reliable option given the alternatives. Granted there's an element of risk the used ones might be damaged, but you could buy several sets for the cost of gm ones, and pattern ones are shite by all accounts so a complete waste of money, going by posts here.
No personal experience of pattern cats though, must be said. :)

Already rang two Vauxhall breakers today and no joy with them....
-
Pop a wanted add up for the for sale section.
Second hand genuine cats are the way forwards, the last pretty much the life of the car if cared for 9the likes of miss fires nd head gasket failures being their undoing).
The pattern cats are flipping awful quality and rarely last longer than 18 months so beware :y
-
I don't want to put another post on the wanted section again as i don't want to bore the pants off people with same request but i will keep my eye out for someone breaking a 2.5... :y

It's been in there 6 months so far and hasnt caused any probs. Have spare though for if it breaks down :y :y

I need two replacing and I think i shall continue to look for used for a while. :y

Well, this is a fairly 'dead' thread, I'd imagine, but I know what you're saying about finding cats...I'm struggling to find some... though reading this thread has now put me off pattern ones, which I was very nearly about to do.. really can't stretch to brand new OEM, but some decent original VX off a breaker here would be the best option :-)
Did I mention I'm looking for some cats? Offside... V6... wink wink ;)
