Following on from a old thread, here are the dates of when and where you can see the Canadian Lancaster around the UK :y :y
http://www.warplane.com/lancaster-2014-uk-tour.aspx
I must dust off the old camera and tripod and get my arse to one or more of these.
I can't see me ever managing to get some pickys of 2 Lancs in the air together ever again :-\ :)
Reminder to self to make sure the piggin batteries are charged and I have the right lenses with me this time unlike Waddington last year ::) :-[

tg, a BIG thank you for that information - Clacton is my nearest viewing point and it's a photographic must!

It's currently made it as far as Iceland (Keflavik). It's due to arrive at RAF Coningsby at about 13:30 local on Friday (tomorrow) escorted by some of the BBMF, and with a flyby of the Red Arrows. Inbound routing is covered by the following NOTAM, so tell Kevin to keep his balsa wood contraption out of the way ;D
FLYPAST BY BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT AND OTHER HISTORICACFT FOLLOWING ROUTE SPECIFIED BELOW:
533215N 0003616W (N KIRTON IN LINDSEY) 1200
530148N 0002912W (RAF CRANWELL) 1224
530709N 0000203W (E RAF CONINGSBY) 1230
OTHER AIRSPACE USERS ARE REQUESTED TO AVOID THE ROUTE BY 5NM EITHERSIDE OF TRACK DURING THE STATED TIMES.
CTC BATTLE OF BRITAIN MEMORIAL FLIGHT OPS 01526 347906. 14-08-0542/AS1
Oh - BTW - If you're intending to go to RAF Coningsby, be early, really early - the rozzers/council are playing silly beggars with most of the roads up there.

I wonder ...............
.........if you'll get within 5 miles of the place tomorrow. Seriously - there is likely to be traffic chaos in that area of Lincolishire tomorrow. If you want to go, fair enough, but either be there at dawn, or be prepared for a LONG walk.

Going to sit on the patio tomorrow camera in hand, hoping this old girl flies over us in Lincoln on its way to Coningsby.

I was following it on flightradar24 as it left Rejkjavik but its now disappeared, suspect its flying under the radar coverage..

All the radar tacking sites rely on members of the public uploading radio messages received by special boxes (called SBS/MODES receivers) to a central server. These have a range of around 100 miles at 9000 feet. There aren't many members of the public equipped witrh receivers out in the gap between Iceland and Scotland. ::)
Coverage over Scotland is a bit sporadic too.

Yep, Flightradar is reliant on ground stations seeing the ADS-B signal. At the altitude at which they are flying, they are probably over the horizon for most of the sea crossing whereas the commercial traffic at 30,000ft+ remains visible.

Some of us are able to track aircraft using Mode A/C and FLARM too :y
-
There's a Raspberry Pi in my loft doing just that. :y
I wonder if they are carrying FLARM? Most of the BBMF aircraft seem to now.
-
I tell you something though boys... I went to the Sywell Airshow last two years (I think) and I'm not really in to planes apart from the WWII ones. Anyway there was an aerial display going on and I wasn't really taking any notice..... then the Lanc comes round the corner flying pretty low. That old girl gave me a lump in my throat. She is so majestic. :y
-
Well the old dear is currently doing 173 knots @ 5100 feet / heading of 107 degree's
About 35 clicks north west of stornoway :y :y
Ident C-GVRA :D

Sywell too sold out in record time :y

Both Lancasters and a Spitfire have just made a low pass over Gravesend, which was a nice surprise. I hadn't expected to see them at all.
-
Fantastic footage on local TV News last night... Looks like Waddington is going to be a 'must' for me. 2 Lancs, Vulcan and 2 hawks.. :y
-
Cool just checked out the the schedule and the last flight over here this year is at the Southport air show i'll be there :y
-
24th at dunsfold wings and wheels for me, both lancs, spitfire and hurricane, and vulcan too. all my christmas pressies in one hit. early too. :y
-
Had the pleasure of veiwing the 2 lancs today along with 2 spitfires. Where part of a fly past airshow. Highlight of the show but only about 15 mins. Some real good low flypasts. A mustang, huey and a catalina also impressed me and the wife. She was amazed at the size of the lancs and catalina. Not bad though as it was free!
I would have missed the 2 lancs if it hadn't been for oof so big THANKS to anyone who posted about this. :y
