Title: Twelve months on
Post by: bigegg on 11 August 2014, 00:31:29
It's now been twelve months since I bought the lexus.

18,000 miles done

service items:£140 (oil/filters) transmission fluid - £60.

new battery:£45
Tyre: £60

other costs: brake light bulb : £2 (must have been a dodgy batch, cos original only lasted 16 years!)

on top of the £600 I paid for it.

in related news, my 6 pts come off in september, and my insurance drops from 1100 quid to 500  :)

Garage local  to us has an LS 430 for sale. Nice car but ugly as sin. It even makes an Insignia look half decent. ;D

You could be right, Mr Emd.

The Insignia is a real 'minger' :-\

I find it hard to believe that Vauxhall signed it off as finished and fit for purpose.

It's a shame they never made an estate version of the 400. That would be a beast and I'd have one!  :y

Key cost really...

Depreciation = £0

Easily see £500 to £5,000 depending on the car per year!

sounds excellent stuff that! just think of the poor so and so who bought it brand new and lost all the money in depreciation and its still prooving to be a luxurious and reliable motor all these years and miles on! thats why i like the big vauxhalls fantastic drive and spec for the money!

So would I. LS400 is like an Omega, just with a bit more of everything. Except for all the niggling characteristics that we put up with.

I bought it from the original owner. He paid 35K ish for it in 1999, so it cost him 2.5K a year in depreciation.  :o
He told me that he fully intended to keep it until he died, but they'd taken his licence off him at 75 because he kept crashing into things, and couldn't stand to see it rot away from disuse. - no-one in his family wanted it.

I think it'll outlast me, let alone him! I'm  going to get the dents taken out in the new year, and use it as a second ca, unless I get an LPG LS400, in which case, I'll consider selling it. (or not!)

Hello everybody! Hope everyone is well?

Long time no see.

Thought, since I was passing, I would update the thread on my lexus...

I'm afraid I treated her badly.
She was stood two years due to my illness and breaking up from mrs egg.
Bought her from exmrsEgg for £200
Changed the battery (it wouldn't hold a charge) and pumped the tyres.
Drove her to the MOT station to see if she was worth fixing.
She only passed, no advisories!

I then did a 750 mile round trip to Ben Nevis - literally straight from MOT station to petrol station then on A1 north.

Never missed a beat, and she's done another 18 months and another MOT (no advisories) STILL without any work being done.

LOVE my lexus!
Still boring AF tho - and miss my MV6   :'(
