Title: Probably a Parts for Sale Ad - But.
Post by: zirk on 17 August 2014, 18:34:46
.....Its not specifically an Omega Part related so it shouldn't really go in that section.

Cut a long story short, went to see an old contact of mine today (Police Bits and Bobs), anyway He's got a box of ProMax Battery Savers, these are New but not in there original packaging, they basicly connect onto the + Batt Terminal, and monitor the Battery Voltage, should the voltage fall below a preset condition they automatically disconnect and isolate the Battery from the Vehicle meaning the Battery is then left on its own for a Priority Vehicle Start.

These are a big thing in the States and are fitted to a lot of Emergency Vehicles to ensure there ready to priority start rather than a flat Battery syndrome, you get the idea.

They go for around $100 in the States, He's looking for around the £35 mark each and has 9 of them, I wouldn't mind 2 or 3 for myself, handy if you've got a second car parked up thats not being used on a regular basis,  I reckon if I put an offer in for the lot I can probably get them for 20 to 25 each, so if anyone is interested in one and I can make up the numbers for all of them give me a shout (PM)  ;)

Do I have this right?

This gadget will stop a healthy battery from going flat due to a charging problem, but it won't stop a defective battery from leaving you stranded.

Ok, just to clarify, these aren't coming from the States, there here in East London, part of a Trade Shipment including other bits.

I only put the reference to over the Pond bit as when we Googled them they only seem to be sold over there, dare say there are some UK outlets but nothing showed up on a quick search.  ;)

Nope, nothing to do with the Charging System, These are for when you leave you car Parked up, ie, Airport Parking, left your Lights On, Cars not used on a regular basis, etc, It will diss the Battery and isolate it, ready for your return.

Edit:, and yes the above assumes its a good battery to start with.

I can see its purpose....but if its going to disconnect the battery so it has enough juice in it to start the car....it going to cut the battery off fairly quickly....a few days to a week?  :-\

So, if you go for one....make sure your key will unlock the doors (remote central locking wont work) and you have the code/codes for the stereo  :y Also remember the alarm will be not be working and if you still have a power sounder....this will go off when it disconnects the battery.....

Not wanting to be negative about this product.....just thinking what happens when the battery is disconnected ..... :)

Yep good points there TD, not to sure about the Central Locking bit, they do have a current sense when the Battery is dissed, ie think it puts they Battery back into play if the interior light current sense has come on.

mate used to have something very similar in a old yank tank it dosnt disconet the battery just stops it going completely flat so radio codes and low voltage things still get power.is also had a switch on it that worked as a anti theft thing if you didn't have it in the right postion it wouldn't turn over it just supplied low voltage.

Now gone, someone else waived 150 notes at him for the lot.  :(

Sorry to those who expressed an interest, but couldn't get enough numbers up in time.

On reflection, should have just put an early offer in for the lot and put the excess on the Bay, live and learn.  ::)
