BOOT CARPET AND FLOOR MATS
Take your boot carpet out, find a way of hanging it againt a wall . then jet wash it, and finish off with frash water from hose pipe.
If really manky pre spary with some detergent and let it soak in for 5 mins. If you have a good stiff brush then give the carget a bit of a scrub before the jet wash.
To dry it, leave it hanging at an angle so that one corner is lower than the rest. Should be dry with in an hour or 2 on a sunny day, then vax the water out of the lowest corner.
Ruber floor mats
Prespay with TFR (Trafic Film Remover)
wait a couple of mins
Jetwash

That depends on whether some tyre bay fitter has used clip on weights for ease, despite being told to use just stick on weights on the inside.
Those wheels are a piece of cake to clean. Any owner of an Omega's superior predessor with the cross spoke alloy wheels will still have the tooth brush in a drawer some where from when they use to clean those wheels! :y :y ;D ;D ;D

Good point on the weights.
Regards the cross spoke wheels, rechargable drill with the big brush, then change to a test tube cleaning brush.

It wasn't untill I went back into Halfords for a fourth can of paint that I realised how much the other cans had cost me. I'd had them make me a silverish/grey paint for the centre bit of my Senator alloys that was appartently around £9 a can. Pitty it wasn't the original colour ... but as the car was silver/grey they looked pretty good.
Sigh! I wish I'd kept it! :'(

I used to valet a brand new 3.0 24V every Saturday morning, it was a H plate, It was the absolute biz, the 1st time I drove I decided I wanted one, but unfortuneatly due to other commitments I couldnt afford one, then when I could I didnt find one as nice as the Carltons and went that direction instead.
If a good one turns up I would be tempted to do a deal with ny GLS
On the Saturday mornings, we used to valet a 2.9 Granada scorpio and an E300 Merc
The Merc had the eddge on cabin size and trim (on par with the Elite), the Scorpia had the best ever leather seats, but given the choice, the Senator won hands down for me.

There was a rubber tube I had with little rubber pimples/spikes on it, I found that quite effective, but not on every material.
Get a strong card board tube, and put some brown parcel tape arround it with the sticky on the outside and then roll it accross carpets, seats etc
For more detail wrap cellotape arround your hand to get into the more detailed places.
:y
Also, (some may disagree) a rotary turbo head on your hoover, as the likes of the Dyson Animal. :y

I regret to this day ever selling mine. The thing that pi$$3s me off the most is that I susequently saw for it for sale. I even endured the seller's bullsh1te about what he said he's done to the car (I'd done it all years ago - even made a stainless exhaust for it) & stil didn't buy it back! :-? :-? :-?
Despite claims made here anbout Omegas vs Senators IMHO the Omega will still play second fiddle to its predessor!

Are we still talking about valeting?? ;D ;D ;D :y :y :y

If I see a low mileage one I may very well be tempted.
The problem is, age can at times be worse than high mileage motors.
Before I bought the Elite in April, my GLS some time didnt turn a wheel for 2/3/4/5 weeks at a time due to me being ill, and therefore the exhaust and brakes have suffered the old rust problem.
Since had new disks and pads on, but the exhaust needs looking at soon, they need using at least on a weekly basis.

I know what you mean. There's a 24v in the ABS that the owner might be persuaded to sell. But if you saw the earlier picture of the inside of my garage you'll know that I couldn't do a proper classic justice by keeping it outside subject to the elements. One day I might do somethng with the future classic that already there.
One day Rodney .....
Despite spending half its value (on a good day) on my Elite, it's not moved properly since Sunday when we came back from the North East.

I agree about the seats... had them in my Cossie Scorpio... I'm told that they are manufactured by Reccaro :y

Can confirm how well TFR works on boot mats :)
Used it on one of ours, came up like new.
I sprayed with TFR, then pressure washed several times, dried, perfect :y

Good for cleaning really naff paintwork as well.
Spray on a dry car from the sills upwards in a very light fanned out spray, allways spray from the bottom as it streaks the paint as it runs down dry paint work.
As you have sprayed one side then do the other side, the fron and backworking upwards all the time.
Steam clean round the car starting in the same order and place you put the TFR on.
Hot water (rather than steam ) is better than the cold water pressure sprays for this.
Gets all the baff out of the rubber seals on doors and windows, gets in where polish cant etc.
Leather off, use a good wiper blade to squegee the water off 1st.
Good quality polish and then do the glass, trim and rubber dressing, and heypresto you have a superb exterior valet on your escort vans etc.
Works very well on white and saves having to T-cut which takes paint off. (Actually so does polish, just not as much, the tell tale is, if your polish cloth end s up the same colour as your car, then you are removing paint. The faster it turns the colour of your car, the more/deepers it cuts into the paint)
Also dont forget Trade TFR waters down 25/1 to 80/1 and then dilutes through steam cleaners again for engine steam slaing. So really is quite a cheap claning method.

I hate to admit it's not unknown for me to remove the wheels, clean & polish the inner rims & re-fit 'em......not every weekend though.
I like the wheel cleaner thingy but with regular cleaning of disc dust, road film there's no need. I admit to being a valet tart. Mine get's parked in a filthy hauliers yard all week so no excuses folks, muck washes off. I cringe when i see someone wash thier car & leave it wet, over time that water eats into your paint, you've washed & rinsed it, only takes a few more minutes to shammy it off & the results are worthwhile.
Sorry to go on but is it only me?
P.S. Got Planet Rock on, now playing Zep, Dazed & confused, biking memories!
