Title: Webby Bear taking one for the team.....
Post by: Webby the Bear on 19 August 2014, 12:06:29
I'm sure STE-HOMO will be all excited by the title  ;D

However, it appears I need new cam cover gaskets. There's no huge oil slick as I've once had before, but there is a little bit in pot 3 and pot 4 (different banks).

As the Vx price is extortionate for said gaskets for what is essentially a bit of rubber (easy Stemo) I am going to try ANother pattern part to see if we can find a long-lasting gasket at a reasonable price.

There was/is a site that sells Omega parts (and I'm sure as a club we've previously endorsed them). They recently had a site update and I remember members saying it was a lot easier than before to navigate round etc. What was this site? As I'm confident they had these gaskets for dirt cheap.

For testing purposes I'll use the GM black sealant and I'll check them once a month.

DISCLAIMER
OOF recommends OE cam cover gaskets only. This is merely an experiment to see if we can get a cheaper product for a good price.

Taxi, this site isn't working for me. When I put in Opel, Omega, Engine variant..... it gpes back to the main screen where I can choose the manufacturer again.

I've tried Google-ing said items but it won't come up.

Are you able to get to it with ease and it's just me?

Thanks mate. Still not having it though.

I'll fudge about with it at home to see if I can get there as it may be my works computer that's the issue  :y

Yep, call Jason and tell him his website is broken ;)

(Looks like whatever back end engine runs the parts search explodes after you select the engine and returns something to the client side Javascript that it doesn't like - or the client side JS is sending something the server side doesn't like)

Genuine gaskets should cost literally pennies................but don't. :-\

I can't help but feel that GM are taking the piss. :-\
