I'm fortunate (or not) to have two MV6s on a V plate - having just acquired another one last week.
I have just changed the coil pack on the more recent acquisition and drove it earlier today on a test drive and have just been out in the other one.
They seem to be quite different in acceleration/power - my existing car being the better of the two.
Mileages are 96k on the newer acquisition and 79k my existing car.
Any fundamental reasons why - I suppose there could be lots of reasons but any obvious things to check?

Service history/quality and poorly fitted cambelt can both have a huge difference...

Check the multi rams are working on the new car. Probably no1 culprit on these especially if there's any form of step in power at 4k rpm.
Cam belt timing and blocked exhaust are also possible.

Just to add to those other things mentioned....
If it wasnt driven very hard previously then it will be down on power compared to one that has been driven fast. Can OP do an ECU reset and then it will be forced to learn his style? :-\

In addition to a bloody good service, moreso if the air filter is black

I would suspect plenum dual ram not closing. It should be open while idling, but closed at low to medium revs. If it does not close it will feel flat, lacking low rev torque. Fault can be stuck butterfly, failed vacuum switch, or in my case a misbehaving vacuum reservoir. Might be vacuum hose off.

Cam belt would be my guess. My car drove really nicely for the first 3 months I had it, including 1800 miles in France. The belt had been fitted about 5 years earlier, so it was overdue on time although only about 20K miles. I bought the bits, and the locking tool and got on with it. All four cams were a tooth out! After getting it spot on, it went so much better, and picked up a couple of MPG. Sounds like a proper, although quiet, V6 too.
