Hi all my 2.6 v6 gearbox seems to stay in 1st gear a lot longer than usual I don't know if it's me it don't do it all the time it changes from 2-3 gear quite quickly any ideas ? Thanks glenn

Is this when it's cold or hot?
From cold it's normal - supposed to aid heating up the Cats by making the engine rev higher. You can press the snowflake button to force it to change up (which I often do as I don't believe in using lots of revs on a cold engine).

While hot as I say it don't do all the time it just worries me it stays in 1st for a while but goes 2-3 quicker

Yeh, my 2.6 does this sometimes but my 3.2 never does. The gearbox software is the latest and the box has been replaced.
It would be worth checking the fluid level and if it's never been changed in 60K Miles, a fluid change as per the guide on here would be worth doing.
Again, pressing the snowflake button will force it into 2nd and then 3rd when it seems locked in 1st.

Wondering if its a Gearbox ECU problem this Andy.. come across a few the same but never yet got around ti swapping the ecu to verify it

Is this the same problem AA had with his 2.6?
I know he swapped the gear box ecu, but not sure if that fixed the issue.

It did.

Most odd. Why common( if that's fair to say?) on the 2.6? What caused it, and what failed in the ecu?

Mine was a 2.6 Chris. Also heard a member mention the symptoms about his 3.2 :-\
