Saab 9-5 Hot Aero .. They seem good value for money, Well equipped, Plenty of power, Better looking than Vectra/Insignia.. FWD is a downside i know but would need to drive one before judging... Not keen on cars with Turbos presume they will just be a money pit.

We have a Saab 9-5 estate. 3.0 vector turbo diesel. It's an 03 plate. We've had it just over 2 yearsand its used as our "workhorse". Had everything in the back of that car :)
Never had a problem with it. Find it reasonably good on fuel considering its the 3.0L. Very quick as well when I need it to be.
Comfy to drive, nice and smooth through the gears. Flew through the 2 MOTs I've put it through and would definatly buy another. :y

Looks like a nice example :) Set in the grounds of Lord Opti's manor by the looks of it :-\

Just pondering possible Omega replacements if mine don't behave.. Not an easy task especially finding something to outmatch a 3.2 Elite,. Which ain't thousands of £££ :-\ .. Saab being the cheapest option so far.
Short list really..
Saab 9-5 Hot Aero
Lexus LS430 mini face lift post 2003/53 there about's
BMW E60 530i
It's just a phase most likely currently in the hate part of the Omega Love/Hate relationship ;D
-
In almost all cases, its cheaper to fix the omega. Especially if its just a headlight field of vision fault. ;)
-
Ps, I heard talk of cracking or rusting baulk head issues, with certain Saabs. No idea if true or which models... :-\
-
My father had the old style Saab 99 , quite nippy considering it weighed as much as a tank :o
Didnt Saab cease production :-\

Attention! Headlamp Range actually ;D .. Just a few days ago i noticed that the A/C ain't working either 45 odd days since it was done at a VX garage after they said it wasn't leaking after spending 4 hours waiting there.. Anyway that's Omega's for you never a dull moment a bundle of never ending joy! ;D
-

Nah, that's just cars generally. The grass is very rarely greener without spending a good deal more money.
I like the body shape of the last two Saabs, personally, especially the newest Insignia based one. However the interior, especially the dash plastic vents pattern that's spread to surround the entire dash completely spoils it for me. I couldn't sit in any car and look at that every time I get in it. :(

I've always liked Saab's and that looks like a nice one! :y

Watch the wheeler dealers episode on the 9-3 convertable and they go into it along with fitting the Abbot racing rubber and metal thing that stops it happening.
From memory if the steering rack moves on the bulk head when parked and turning the steering wheel its too late

If you are looking at the SAAB estates, then don't rule out the 9-3 with the 2.8 V6 turbo (the turbo X being the 4wd version with the upgraded turbo found in the Insignia VXR) or the Vectra C estate with the same engine.
Equally as good at load lugging as the Omega and pretty much the same ride and build quality. But not sure if thats a good or bad thing!!!!!
-
I heard the High Output Turbos were a problem, but most turbos are after a while. ;D
-
The sensible car would be the LS430, Apparently better on fuel than a 3.2 Omega and capable of 0-60 under 6 seconds. Never hear bad things about them... Probably the best car for toys available too 8)
This type I have in mind :y

Looks very Jap inside though. doesn't look 'quality', although seeing one in the flesh might change my mind.

Fixed... think Camry CDX with less laquer ;D

Was a nice experience as a passenger in one, Driving one unsure would need to test drive one, They do feel well built this was a 2001 LS430 the pre mini FL.
I do fear that they might be too big in size though.

Nice comfortable cars Jay, and very reliable(might be an issue after Omega ownership ;D ;D ;D ;))

2 good reasons just there :y
Sure are comfortable, Can't say from first hand experience on reliability but the word reliability is well known for them, Seen a few done 400k+ and still going strong...
Nice to have that little extra power too, Silky smooth transmission and silent engine with a nice note under load.
If you thought the 3.0/3.2 Omega Elite was well equipped.. Take a look at what the LS430 has especially the later ones 2003-2006 :o
Must resist, must resist, must resist!!!! :D ;D ;D

This is enough to put me off the LS lexus :o
