Title: Local Shell Garage is knocking out V Power at 1.20 a Litre.
Post by: zirk on 30 August 2014, 23:24:56
Popped in tonight to grab some milk, so when I asked why, they replied need it gone, got tons of the stuff and were closing down tomorrow for 2 months for refurbishment.

No good to me as Im on Lpg, so where do I go to get my late milk I asked?, 2 miles up the road to Shell B place, and then handed me a shite load of vouchers giving me 10p off per litre till October end in Shell B place.

Better than a poke in the eye, but still no good for me Lpg.

Suspect shell lpg is poor compared to Bp anyway.

Anyone else ?

I tend to run on BP, as its the cheapest around here and most convenient (although Towcester has at last realised they need to be competitive), but if over Costco way will always use Shell due to a cheap station.

Can't say I've really noticed a difference in performance or mpg.

One I do notice poor mpg from is one of the BPs in Oxford that I used to use (as it does the 1p off accumulator, up to 10p off), but I think the crooks have frigged the pumps, as I can frequently get over 70l in when not even empty. Not noticed that on the couple of occasions at Spencers Wood, only other place I know doing the accumulator.

Yes spencers wood is my usual, and only use the shell north of m4 in deepest darkest Whitley, if the Bp has run out, or pumps are off as they sometimes have issues with the tank leaking :o

I've noticed a few times after filling up at the shell, the car feels sluggish, and if switching back to petrol at wot, performance Improves as you can feel a slight surge in power. Do that with a tank full from BP and I can't tell the difference. Slightly more likely to lag on shell as well if the car isn't fully warm.

Popped in again tonight as they close a midnight. Now got loads of money off vouchers, about 300 quids worth. So anyone that passes Epping on a regular basis, contact me and I'll give you some. Min fill is 30 litres with 3 pound off, works out at 10p off per litre, any fuel, vouchers last till 1st Nov 14. :y. Only downside is there only valid at the Shell Garage at Epping, about 5 mins off junction M25 or M11. ;)

They are doing. Few of these Shell garages. The one at the end of my road was closed the beginning of August and will be until mid-November as they are changing the tanks and revamping the site. They had the piling machine on today and they sealed the new tanks in concrete over the weekend.

They did the big Shell in Bracknell, too..

It was a Shell with maybe 10 pumps, a jet wash, automatic car wash and a tiny Shell shop.  Was good.
Now it's got 12 pumps, no jet wash, no car wash and it's a small Waitrose with some Shell pumps attached.  Less good.

Can do Paul, or can meet up if your coming off M25 J26?, The Vouchers give you £3 Off per min 30 Litres of any Fuel they sell, so Im half thinking if you put 40 litres in you only get the £3, so guessing if you want to fill up the Tank, you need to do it in 30 Litre payment gaps if that makes sense, probably best to ask before you commit. Never used them yet as they dont do LPG.

Garage details here -
Shell Half Moon Filling Station
24-36 High Street
Epping
Essex, CM16 4AE

Phone: 01992 565930

I put aside 4 x Vouchers for you (120 litres, £12 Off) or do you need more?  ;)

If you want me to post will need an Addy, or will "PaulK in Kent" work  ;D

They do seem to have been shelling out on their service stations recently.  ::)

The one on the A303 at Ilminster was completely demolished and rebuilt on a different location on the site, its much better now!  :y
