Title: 2.2 Dti Vacuum Pipes
Post by: Boiler Man on 07 September 2014, 11:34:01
Hi Guys

Just hoping someone can help me please. I'm looking for a diagram of the vacuum pipes for 2.2 dti.

We have just finished replacing the engine with a good 2nd hand one I bought off Joff a couple of month ago.

It's a long story, but it is now in and running pretty good, it will run all day if not pushed.

However it seems a bit short on power and when accelerated hard the EML comes on and it drops into limp mode, until the engine is switched off and restarted.

We suspect a vacuum pipe has been put back incorrectly. I have had this problem nearly every time I have had jobs done on the dti, but usually I find a loose or disconnected vac pipe. :(

Any help would be very much appreciated. :y

Cheers Gary

Well, start by going over all the elbows and joins looking for a vac leak.

If its the same as the 2.0DTi (and I believe it pretty much is), from vac pump, large pipe goes to brake servo, small pipe splits, one goes to turbo actuator solenoid (and then on to turbo vane adjustment), other goes to both the EGR and swirl solenoids, and then off to egr and swirl flaps

Check the 90 degree elbow joint into the turbo actuator.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies.

I hope you don't think I'm thick, but I thought I knew a bit about these cars, however I cant see any difference in the size of the tubes. So I cant see which is large and small. :-\

Also I know which is the turbo, but I'm afraid I'm lost with all those other components you have named :(

I need to check it has all gone back correctly. I found this drawing in another post. Could someone possibly help me with the numbers please. I have also noticed some of the connections have a yellow mark on them?

Thanks Again, any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Guys,
I have found another drawing that tells me some of the components names, for the above drawing.

But I am still struggling a bit. :(

1 - Vacuum Reservoir
2 - Vacuum Pump
3 - Vari tract intake manif, diaphragm unit
4 - EGR Solenoid Valve
5 - EGR Valve
6 - ?
7 - Boost Pressure Solenoid Valve
8 - Boost Pressure Control Valve
9 - ?
10 - ?

Can anyone help me with 6, 9, & 10 please.
Also if the connection colour code on the drawing a significant.

I'm getting a bit desperate to check they have been put back correctly. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Gary  :y
