Title: Best way tp pay for International eBay items (Non PayPal)
Post by: zirk on 08 September 2014, 18:58:13
As tittle, checked with Bank they want 25 Notes my end plus an Unknown amount at tather end, plus FX Exchange Rate cost what ever that is? Just for a up to 5 Day Iban Transfer.

Just tried Post Office, they said MoneyGram, tried that went through all the stuff like Identity Checks, how many kids ya got, how long was your willy when you was born etc, and then ended saying sorry we wont do overseas eBay items.  ::)

Must be easier ways (I hoping someone is not going to say Western Union, although must admit never used them).

I've used Western Union before to buy stuff from China and it all worked out OK!  :y

You need to have confidence in your supplier though.  ;)

Cheers, the supplier is in India, not that that makes any difference, I got the sellers, Full name, address, Bank details, email and PayPay details, unfortunately the PayPal bit isnt working at her end, seller has about 50+ all Poss 100% feedback, speaks and types excellent English, so thouh they may be a bit of trust there.

Bought Item is around 85 quid, justed checked with WU Online costs about a fiver to send funds same day.

Still undecided though. :-\

Probably has account frozen... :-\

Wife uses western union to send money to family in Philippines.

Id say if you can afford to loose the money then just go for it...person is likely to be honest, but as said if you can afford it take a gamble.

Paypal isn`t glitch free, I had a similar message when I paid for a chinese item. Thinking I`d try again nextday the paypal transaction had already been actioned during the night & the receipt was sitting in my inbox. I tried paying twice & got billed twice :o

Western Union is very effective and fast (although commission rates are high) .. but useful only for trustable sellers..

Well that worked out well (NOT!), contacted PayPal, waste of time, cannot divulge other account details, contacted ebay, outcome, if you pay for anything other than PayPal your not protected, so dont do it. Had more comms with seller, felt comfortable with it all so did a Account to Account Western Union payment, thinking at least that way Ive got some form of proof, told buyer to expect funds.

4 days later get a letter from Bank, Fraud Team, please contact us. in a nutshell they cancelled the WU Transaction for reason they wont go into, so told seller, sorry cant seem to pay for item, any chance you can get your PayPal sorted out. Never heard anymore from the seller.

Unknown to me the seller had put an unpaid item dispute a few days after the Close of the Sale, this morning I get an email from eBay telling me I cannot deal with the Seller any more, Seller is not obliged to send item, and I have received an Unpaid item Strike! WTF!!.  >:( >:( >:(

I was warned about sending funds other than PayPal,  :y Not about getting a bloody Strike because the Sellers PayPal account is fooked.  :(

Presumably the item is on its way then, as you can hardly be blamed for not paying for an item you didn't get!

Had a seller do similar to me... but was through paypal :-\ basically bought two items from same seller, but only one was listed with international postage. Couldn't pay for both items as the breakless retard wouldn't amend the postage on the second item, even though it would have had no bearing on the postage cost.

Ebay cancelled the non payment marker once they had read the communication that I had had with the seller and concluded that I had taken reasonable steps to pay for both items...

Thats my next course of action Al, get on to eTards tomorrow and try and get the strike removed, if they can be arsed to read the comms, it should show the true story, probably another waste of half a day and phone charges.  >:(

I've bought about four items in the last five years off eBay, I even needed a password reminder last time. I certainly would not buy anything really valuable. In the past I've bought two cars, but none of this PayPal malarkey. I turn up with pound notes and, if the seller has been telling porkies, I leave with said pound notes. I've had a couple of nice days out. ;D

Paypal and ebay are safe..its knowing how too use them, and knowing the pitfalls.

Buy quite a bit off ebay...used to sell quite a few laptops & computers on there, only had 2 issues and as id coverd myself inline with there rules, both times found in my favour.

I think every single item I've bought of egay in the last 3 or 4 years has gone to a dispute. I think the place is best avoided.
