Title: Bluetooth kits for a pair of VWs...
Post by: GastronomicKleptomaniac on 19 September 2014, 18:53:04
Woman, bless her, owns a 2001 Lupo 1.0 and a 2001 Golf convertible... I would like to get her something for Xmas that lets her use Bluetooth in one or both of them.

Any recommendations chaps, for either -

- a pair of decent wired-in kits to suit standard stereos
- a portable kit that can be swapped between the two, if such a thing exists?
- a headunit or two with BT, that will look OEM... I have a Clarion in one of mine that is lovely looking.

Any of them must have excellent sound quality (because we both have zero patience), and be fairly easy to use... and not be megabucks, because that will eat into the Omega fund ;)

Parrot kits are very good, will need specific leads for head units tho if they are not iso connections

Beg to differ... mine was utter shite compared to my 5 year old TomTom with BT :-X

Both should have single din stereos, so anything suitably sized with bluetooth should do it... Helfrods usually have summat on offer, should be plug and play at that age too :y

Use Bury kits with AD9060 Bluetooth screens in both of my cars.

I'd avoid Parrott like the plague, due to reliability issues. The stuff is universally poor. Even the 15yr old Nokia CK-7W beats it for reliability, but obviously no longer available.

Sun visor kits available, but a) you need to remember to charge, b) remember to turn on.  I think this makes them useless.

Thanks all - I've heard differing opinions on Parrot before, think I'll give them a miss and go shopping instead.

Nothing to do with the lovely young lady that works in the local Halfords, naturally...
