Title: Broken down coolant loss
Post by: X30XE on 21 September 2014, 20:37:29
Coolant escaping from the front of the engine. Failed waterpump?  Has been making rumbly noises but thought that was aux belt related.

Any suggestions on the most cost effective way of recovering vehicle 45 miles home? :/

How bad is the coolant loss? If not too bad, top it up, drive until lights come on, top it up again, drive, top up, until your get home. Take lots of water with you.

Near Ely. Have parked it up and walked to my destination whilst i plot it's recovery/ disposal options.

Coolant is coming out too fast to drive. Plus it might take the Cambelt out if it's the pump.  :o

Do you know anyone with "personal" recovery membership i.e. it covers any car they are driving or passenger in rather than just a vehicle. If so they were probably in your car when it died and so could call on recovery to repatriate you all.....just a thought ;)
