Title: Check light.....is it possible to turn it off for good?
Post by: carswaps on 24 September 2014, 20:35:05
Is it possible maybe via software to turn of the check light and messages?
or maybe remove a wire/s?
I've got the low beam message and have seen all the fix's on here but wondered if it was possible to turn it off?

At risk of being, er, controversial... you could always fix the fault ::)

Yes. But its telling you that the headlight aiming isn't working, so handy to have.

You need a £4k diags machine to turn it off.

Probably cheaper to find and fix the fault  :) ;)

I had the tyre pressure monitor turned off on my Audi RS6 with some software (can't remember what it was) but just wondered if the Vauxhall onboard software allowed this like this to be changed.

VAGCOM.

Nobody makes anything similar that works for GM.  Its technically possible to turn off this specific error with GM diags equipment. But its far cheaper to fix the fault.

I think they try to call it VCDS now (to get past the word filters perhaps? ::))

So it's not possible to disable certain check control features like windshield washer fluid level and brake pad monitoring?

I would have thought you can unplug them and bridge the terminals with a paper clip....

My BP sensor is tied up and out the way.

The problem is that my washer fluid res. has no sensor or plug there ::) And that pad wire trick I do know but it would be nice to just program both of those off..

You could hard wire them out on the back of the MID/GID/CID

Don't forget also that there is the coolant level sensor message to think about.

As someone on here mentioned (think it was AndyB...cheers mate ;)) if something catastrophic happens to the cooling system you might not realise until the temp. soars and you blow a HG. I'd keep it just for that. imo  :y

Yep,if my v8 Landy had a coolant level sensor it might still be on the road rather than being broken for parts :'(
