After buying a pre used power steering pump for my 2001 3.2 V6 and it turning out to be the wrong one, I thought I would share some info I found out after.
Many of you will already know this info but like me some may not and it will save you the hassle I went through.
if you have power steering problems before taking the pump off have a good look at the pump fittings.
Early Omega 3.2 V6 and 2.6 V6 were still using the old stock 2.5 V6 and 3.0 V6 power steering pumps.
The way to tell is:
Older type 2.5 V6 and 3.0 V6

Physically the pumps both fit as the mounting holes are in the same place.
You could fit a new length of rubber pipe to the reservoir but the early threaded pipe and banjo fitting are different!
The threaded early pipe will actually screw into the later banjo thread but will leak due to the depth of the fitting!
If this helps one person from buying the wrong pump it was worth the effort :y
(Maybe this could be added on to this thread?)

Good info that bud :)

Do you know if this difference in pumps are related to the difference in cambelts.
I have a 2001 built late 2000 according to some date codes I've found on it. I have found a pump from a 2003 and suspect that it wouldn't fit on my 3.2L V6
