Title: Clutch, pros and cons of swapping for a solid fly wheel

I've think my clutch is nearly at the end of its life and want to plan for the replacement.

I've found this one on ebay and was wondering what people's thoughts were on it?

Has anyone replaced a dual mass for a solid one before and how did that go?

It's going on a 2.6v6 2002

Don't think my dual mass is going but the thought of it going after doing the clutch would be horrible.

I have been using veccy 2.5 flywheel for a long time.. no probs..

It's quite unusual for dual masses to fail on a petrol engine,I would just fit the clutch and if it looks ok leave alone :y

Different clutch for a different car with a different engine :-X and sfa to do with the Vauxhall/Opel Omega ;D

£800 plus import duty buys alot of common sense...

Isn't the Holden commodore a rebadged omega for the Australians??? Using the same engines.

Nope and Nope... our Omega made it as far as New Zealand, badged either as an Opel or as a Chevrolet. The doors and front wings might be interchangeable, but the shell is totally different. Infact the only common component is the rear wheel bearing, which is the same part as our Omega estate. The V6 in the car you're thinking of is totally unrelated to ours. They also had small block chevy v8s fitted, which is what that clutch you suggested is for ::)

Solid flywheel choice is limited to any V6 Cavalier/Calibra flywheel, and unless you're planning on trashing a  perfectly good Omega by diffing it (or whatever the polite word for being a complete tuesday is nowadays) the Omega flywheels are pretty robust.

As for sfa, try sweet fanny adams/sweet or simply fek all :y

If going solid then source once from a Cav/Vectra.

Then get it lightened and use the appropriate clutch kit and you will be quids in  :y

Thanks for the advice Marks Dtm, I shall do that.

And yes doesn't play with others, I am planning on wrecking a perfectly good omega drifting and will have lots of fun doing it  ;D
