Has anyone bothered removing there tax disc following October 1st new rules?

Not yet, but I might do... if only to wind up the council when my car goes in for its 6 monthly tomorrow ;D
-
I have,well I taxed it yesterday and didn't get a discount so that's that then ::)
-
No I haven't removed it yet.
Might just leave it in there forever as a reminder of happier times ;D ;D
-
I haven't displayed one for months since they sent me a sad piece of cheapo crap as they had stopped printing proper discs
-
Saves 10million a year apparently, according to Dvla bod on bbc news.

Weird, I taxed mine at the end of August (for 1st Sep) and got the exact same disc I've always had; little round perforated thing you punch out of the piece of paper..

A step in the right direction going discless but the government missed a trick. Should have gone further and made whoever owned the car on say 1st Feb pay a full years tax which stays with the car regardless of who owns it. No refunds except if car gets SORN or written off.
The new system in the UK penalises buyers and sellers depending on when you buy and sell in a month. More admin as well just daft.

Yes, it couldn't be that hard to calculate tax refunds to the day rather than to the month, could it? :-\ ::)
I wonder how much extra revenue will be generated by all those vehicles that will be double taxed when bought and sold. ::)
Bastards!! >:(

Yes! :y :y :y
I have been waiting decades to do that! 8) 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D
Now let's go for the abolishion of the tax complete! :y :y :y

I took mine out yesterday at about 4 o'clock. I wanted to feel like a rebel again, if only for a few hours.

I'll wager you were a real 'scally' back in the old days, Steve. ;D ;D
-
What do you mean 'back in the old days'... He's old now ;D
Removed mine, and the council chappy asked to see it as the Dvla site has crashed, so he couldn't check it online ::)
Fortunately I hadn't binned it... ;D

I've been trying to tax the RX8 online for the last two days .. website no worky. Yay.

That is what I have been hoping for :y :y
I always think that why should I pay for the use of the road at the level of someone using it heavily everyday (as I once did) when my car is typically in the garage going nowhere many days of the week. ;)

Remember that discussion of "It's computerised, what could possibly go wrong", ISTR Lizzie was particularly in favour of this new fangledness.. well:
But figures have shown that up to 1.2million vehicles are wrongly identified every day – the equivalent to four in every 100 licence plates.
The letter ‘O’ is mistaken for a zero in 27 per cent of cases and screws or bolts too close to characters cause problems for a quarter of drivers.
Broken or damaged number plates caused mistakes in 25 per cent of cases and dirt on the plate in 22 per cent.
Yup, sounds foolproof to me! ;D

That is why I say repeatedly we need more traffic officers out there. No system is fool proof and mis-aligned, corrupted, so illegal, number plates are best noted by live on the road traffic officers. Gradually they are tracking down those that infringe the regulations with fixed penalty notices, but they do have a mountain to climb. More officers will equal a lot more convictions! :y :y

The site is struggling to cope. http://news.sky.com/story/1345478/dvla-swamped-by-drivers-as-tax-discs-ditched
So all the cars for sale on the bat etc:- Now come with No tax
-
Within 20 minutes yesterday while driving along the A31 across the New Forest, I saw a DVLA camera van doing about 60 in the inside lane just in front of a lorry, a parked up DVLA van in a layby with a camera on a tripod and a sign saying "DVLA Tax Check" and three Police bikes went cruising by. ::)
So maybe they will step up the enforcement efforts. :-\

I think we need to remember that Richbrook are now facing a severe drop in sales!! :)

Hmm. I wonder if my OOF tax disk holder will become collectable? ???

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29442524he annoying thing being now is when going to look for a second hand car I'll have to factor in the tax aswell in the price. Also when selling my car I will have to put the price up to factor in the fact that the new owner will try and barter me down on price cause theve got to tax the car :(
ie if say I want £500 for my car and they want to offer me say £350 cause they have to tax it. Im now going to ask £650 for it so they can offer me £500 :y
agreed or not :)
also dont know what to do with you old disc's send em to this young rascal :y
