Just noticed on another thread that it might be an idea to change the manifold to cat gaskets on the V6. They look in excellent shape, but that's the problem - the shape.

Mine are circular but showing on the (online) EPC are normal 'gasket shaped' Anyone know why? Part numbers listed is

 Cheers!

They should be circular and genuine ones are a flaky type material.

				Thread here... http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=126341.0

on his apparently the aftermarket exhaust came with 'O' ring type gaskets... so has mine been replaced? Convinced mine are the original VX cats, though. Plot thickens!

But I'm trusting Marks DTM and my own eyes, as the ones fitted are definitely round!!  :D

Never in all my days of titing about with Omegas have I seen a shaped gasket such as that shows on a V6 be it 2.5 through to 3.2 from early C25Xe to Y32SE.

I went in to Vx and ordered that gasket.... the guy showed me the photo. I said ''no, the one I want is round'' and he said ''ah, I remember now that the drawing on here is wrong''.

order it and it should be the round flaky one that mark mentioned :)

What can I say? Only that I repeat my statement - I trust Marks DTM (and Mr The Bear) more than Vauxhall!!!  :y

You can get pattern ones of that shape that work. I think they're also used on certain Astras.
I have one of each type on both sides of mine(3.0l engine and pipes with 3.2 manifolds), as they were acquired from different places.

Yes, not had any issues with pattern gaskets either.

In fact, I have reused them when they are in good condition and similarly had no issues.  :y

The key is making sure you tighten the nuts up evenly.  :y
