Title: Unluckiest guy alive
Post by: grain.ben on 07 October 2014, 19:36:31
Barely managed to get the car to work this morning as the engine light (not spanner) came on 0.5 miles from work, running lumpy as fook, no power, parked it up, read codes, Cyl 3 misfire. Haven't checked it properly as its at work, but suspect coil pack!

After all the issues ive had this year, it keeps breaking down and ive now had enough  >:( :'( , it's at work dead until I get a coil pack sorted.  :'( :'(

I'm sure that most breakers would accept bank transfers etc (cheques may take time to clear).

Not sure if im keeping Chris, really not sure at this point. It has to have a new coil pack anyway as I need to get it home  ;) will check the cam cover gaskets in the plugwells to make sure theres no oil down there, there better bloody not be  :-\

I had same problem and I thought it was cp but turned out oil in wells and rubber boot had deteriated. Got some new ones from vx at about £15 job done :y

Oh and the cam gasket too :)

Im going to get another cp and plugs anyway, so will check the plugwells when i take it out. Hopefully the cam cover gasket should be ok, ive been doing regular oil changes and breather cleans, so i hope it ok, the gasket is only 18 months old.

ACTUALLY, there could be another theory to my oil burning thread, it could possibly be a leaking gasket, and oil seeping through the plugs, as i heard that those plugs with 4 electrodes, or what ever they are called can work there way loose, better check.

TBH it is such an easy job on a 4 pot just to check the boots.  If it's that a bit of electrical tape can sort you out until you can get a proper replacement ;-)
