Title: not exactly omega - 3.0v6 diesel
Post by: DC on 23 June 2008, 20:17:10
3.0v6 turbo-diesel from Isuzu can be found in various GM cars (Vauxhall Vectra, Signum, Saab 9-5), but also in some Renaults. My question is: does anyone know if auto-gearbox used in Reault Espace is one of their own or maybe sourced from somewhere else - potentialy the same as in GM cars?

Not 100% but as the 3.0V6 TD was only fitted in FWD GM's and the Espace is FWD from memory I guess it stands a fair chance of sharing the same box, better hope so as Renault Auto's aren't very robust!

I reckon it would have gone well in an Omega if it could be chipped to a decent spec.

I am guessing the same.
from what I have seen, both Espace and Vectra have moved from 5-speed to 6-speed auto at the same time. Further more, the tiptronic position is iin the same place, though I understand this can be coinsidence.
Am thinking about replacing my mega with one of these beasts sometimes in the future, and am slowly and carefully considering the options. Knowing the quality of Renault autos, in the case that this one is their own I would rather have a 2.2 manual, otherwise would go for a V6 even though its a diesel. Want to be sure though. BTW, was actually prepared to consider 3.5 petrol as well, before finding out the costs of service.
