Ok so ive got a man with a pre-facelift self dimming mirror,said it has 11 wires going into the plug.
We had a look at my Face lift CDX (popped light out) but couldn't see any obvious wires or socket...question is,can it be fitted and whats involved. :y

Most of the wiring for the mirror is for the Memory (the rear view mirror moves to suit its occupant along with the drivers seat).
All you need is power - and the plug will be taped up somewhere near that location.

Thanks...wasn't sure being a CDX if id have a plug,will have to have another search.
So Im assuming the same mirror is used pre-face lift and facelift alike.

Plug is buried, wrapped in foam and cardboard... Be up there somewhere...
Wire up as per the guide :y
Vectra C mirror is plug and play for later face lifts :y

Yes mine is a cd and the kind man al fitted mine wires were all there somewhere :y

Good to know...ive had a look,interior light down and nothing obvious...wonder how far in headlining they could be... :-\

The loom is **NOT** fitted to non Elites. As per the maint guides, all you need is ign 12v, 0v courtesy signal and reverse signal. All but reverse is available from courtesy light, reverse available from passenger kick panel (easy to route a new wire up)

Sorry to be argumentative, but I have retro fitted auto dimming mirrors to three non Elite facelifts using the correct loom/plug up in the headlining. Not one of those cars had a sunroof fitted, yet all had the sunroof loom.
It will be there somewhere, about a finger length from the interior light, possibly tucked behind a foam block :-\

Don't be - its how we spread the knowledge of our cars :y. And if you say you have found the loom there in the past, its definitely worth searching for in order to save the (marginally tedious) job of creating one :y
I've fitted a fair few of these to members' cars, and yet to find the loom fitted to those without memory seat option. This is across PFL/MFL/FL. Sunroof loom is always fitted (not sure about plod) :). But always worth a look, it only takes a couple of mins to whip the light out and have a feel :)

There are a couple of foam pads up there. And should be four/five looms, all taped together/routed up the nearside A post...
1. Interior light.
2. Sunroof.
3. Autodimming Mirror.
4. Rain sensor (not fitted pre 2002my).
5. Vanity mirror lighting.
1 is the obvious one, pulling this gently should bring the others into view.
2 is a fair size, and identified by the heavier Red and Black wires, also has a Blue/Red wire to it. (this is a speed pulse if anyone fitting a posh video camera near by).
3 and 4 are taped together, earlier cars might have one squareish plug as they didn't have the auto wiper option, later cars have two flat plugs, one for the mirror (black iirc) and one for the rain sensor (grey iirc).
5 is a smaller plug which simply splits one power feed to both sun visors, be gentle.
Late non Elite facelifts had the option of auto dimming mirror and rain sensing wipers, along with 'ambient console lighting' Vectra C mirror is plug and play for this. I will deal with the rain sensor once I have sorted it... new screen needed for a start.
Earlier mirrors should be plug and play on earlier cars.
It might have a bearing, but I have only retrofitted this feature to '03 build cars, 2.2 CD/2.2 Sport/3.2 plod.
Two have had older Elite mirrors fitted, which required transfering pins from one plug type to another, and the third car has the later non motorised mirror (from a Vectra C) as would have been fitted at the factory.

Thanks guys...we had a proper poke about earlier,interior light popped out and the surround for light was dropped down so had pretty good access,but no plugs other than plugged into interior light.
Didn't look under/behind foam blocks...so will have another gander tomorrow.
Not worried about reverse option...so maybe easier to just pick up the feeds.
Just to recap...the mirror from PF (might be mini FL) will fit FL... :-\

Yes, but be sure to have the matching car side of the loom when you get the mirror...
Then you can simply swap the pins from the car loom into the plug to match the mirror :y
Wires will likely be behind the foam blocks...

Mate is stripping or should I say mostly stripped an older Omega,so can get car side of loom easy enough. :y

Stuart30 - it is worth fitting the reverse wire (assuming you cannot find the loom Taxi Al mentions). It'll take about an extra hour, but worth it IMHO, if you use mirrors when reversing.
The function is to undim when you select reverse.
The courtesy on/off wire is to undim when courtesy light is on. Helps you put your makeup on :P ;D
If you care not about these functions, it just needs the ign on 12v and 0v.
