Title: Heated front screen
Post by: Stuart30 on 11 October 2014, 08:56:20
Assumed the CDX would have a heated front screen...however cant see the tiny wires/mesh so not sure now.

Dual climate with what looks like heated screen button (one for front and another for rear)...reason i ask is screen has decent size crack and ordering new one via insurance.

I struggle with them at night.  I get a bit of a glare of oncoming headlights which I can't seem to get used to  :'(. Initially, in daylight, I find the wires distracting, as I tend to focus on it, though I can get used to it after a few miles.

(I've only tried Ford implementations at night, so not sure if other marques are better/worse)

Yep same here, horrible things, the Ultima Cossie Robbie Robot had one as did as the sapphire coss, although the distraction seemed to go away when you hit the loud pedal on the latter one.   ::)

I hate the heated screen in my transit, when its foggy it really does my eyes in,alot of our drivers have complained about it,i would rather have had aircon instead of the heated screen.

No heated screen. The button is de mist.

Might of had heat reflective screen (Purple tint) as an option, but unlikely.

Probably hasn't got rain sensing wipers. I don't think the cdx had them.

So just a bog standard screen then....? I guess...?

Ahh de-mist it will be then...odd seeing the cost of these cars, thought they would have been standard fitment.

Personaly think they are great to have...all my Galaxy"s have had them and they get well used.

The tint,is that the top tint your referring to...if so yes it has a tint.

No. Heat reflective screens have a purple tint all over, but only when viewed from outside. This is nothing to do with the sun shade area at the top 6 inches only.

If you had one it would be obvious. They are also quite rare.

If that's your black 2.6 estate in the gallery, it's not a heat reflective screen, and does not have rain sensing wipers.

So as said, standard screen. :y

Nothing to do with Volvo :y at the time, Volvo was part of Renault iirc

And

And no patent on the concept, merely the style of application...

VW have offered it for a few years now as well :y

Quite a few cars use it now. Obviously, their may be some form of payment to Ford.

As others say, the heat reflective screen looks very purple, all over, when viewed from the outside. It will be very, very obvious.

All other Omega screens are tinted and with an additional top tint (top tint being a green/blue colour). Late Elites had rain sensing wipers that need a slightly different screen for the clear view of the sensor.
