I haven't seen Mrs V since 29th Sept. She flew to Scotland to help an aunt after a very serious fall. The aunt is now back in hospital and not likely to be able to go home even with a care package for a week or more. So Mrs V is heading down M6 to Leicester on the 14th to help out her sick mother and an ill but stable uncle before going back to Scotland.
I am shutting up shop here on the 14th (animals ate or going into cattery/kennels) and flying in to Manchester before driving to Scarborough and then the Lake District with my Mum and Dad for a 70th reunion of war evacuee teenage children.
We have computed we have a small window of opportunity to rendezvoux near or at Manchester airport about 3 ish .Don't need a room! but neither of us are very familiar with the area.
Looking for suggestions of an easy to find place probably off airport where we could catch up and have a coffee/ light bite mid afternoon. Any ideas please?

Last time I was there I stayed at a Travel Inn / Lodge / Premier thing what ever there called these days, they normally have Pub / Restaurant next door on the same site, think the other place was Holiday Inn Express or sumit, with Coffee Bar sit down area etc.

Lymm sevices/Polar 2000... it's on the M6, a couple of junctions south of the M62 :y
Useful point for you is that being just off the M6, it is easily accessed both north and south bound :y

Trafford Centre isn't a million miles from the airport, not a huge detour from the M6, full of cafe/eateries and you certainly can't miss it from the M60.

Travel Inn and Swan pub, Bucklow Hill on main road between Manchester and M6 near BP garage. Huge car park, have lunch or just a coffee in the pub. I stay there often when I need to be in Manchester. Meets your needs almost exactly I think, except it's not on the way to Scarborough ! But nip up M6 onto M62.

If you take scenic route to Scarborough via Mottram, Penistone and Barnsley there are many options and interesting drive. If speed of essence then as above locations.
