Just watch guy martin and the spitfire rebuild project. Very interesting and lucky sod got to fly in one.

I would actually prefer a 40mm canon as used on the later Hurricanes....but would settle for a couple of Brownings

After her time as a 'land girl' my mother worked at Vickers-Armstrong during the 1940-45 period.

She worked on the production line where the Spitfire and Hurricane were built.

It was a dangerous job as the factory was regularly bombed by the Luftwaffe. :y

Ahh the hammer and oil can school of maintenance.

Yep when I trained as a precision engineer the room I worked in was temperature controlled to consistent rate
