Title: Arrived-where is the sun?
Post by: Varche on 16 October 2014, 11:26:32
Bit of a grey and damp country. Haven't seen any sun!

Thanks for the rendezvoux info. We met at the Swan, Bucklow Hill. Mrs V drove 9 hours that day.

It only took me 3 hours to do the 120 miles to Scarborough. Amazed by the sheer volume of traffic on M56, M62 and M1. A lot of stop start.

I was dissappointed by the hire car. I asked for an auto Insignia. Got a Blue Motion Passat 2 litre diesel auto. No cruise control but it is surprisingly good. Not sure I like all the stuff like electronic handbrake, fancy key start process, auto switch off when stationary at lights. That will be a lot of stuff to go wrong on a car in 15 years time. Also the roofline is a bit low for a tall person unless you lean forward. Haven't found a way of making the seat lower (yet)

How long have radios showed the artist and track ?!

Got a shock - used the volume up and down buttons on steering wheel to find that they are paddle up down gear change

Lake District at the weekend. Looking forward to a few scenic drives and passes. Fingers crossed for some sun.

My Omega's CCRT700 would do that on certain radio stations when in French France  ;)
