Hi guys,
As above, I've recently had a performance issue.....with my Omega.
However after leaky cam covers changed, new leads, new plugs, full service, new multiram vac storage box, EGR blank...... the car feels really good and I love flooring it!!!
Is constantly flooring it really going to do any harm? I never floor it until its up to temp. but when it is I'm finding myself mashing the throttle a lot for that warm feeling you get from the surge of my V6.
SO. Should I try and lay off this or is it ok to drive it fast constantly?

Nothing wrong with flooring it especially if you have a throaty exhaust ;D ;D the only problem would be frequent stops to see the service station. :y :y

One of mine did 120k of being thrashed with a carful of coppers and weapons... It did until 170k on the original head gasket... So keep enjoying it :D

Yeah cos I dont fancy putting in a GB or engine on my drive this winter ;D
Seems to all be running really sweet mate (touch wood). only issue that I cant fathom is that hissing on shut off I mentioned. but its not affecting idle and since swapping that vacuum recovery tank and egr blank car feels faster than ever. in fact I did a 0-60 test (not highly scientific with the stop watch ::) ;D) but got 8.7 secs yesterday on way back from martins on my private track so performance issue solved as far as I'm concerned :)

Arguably pootling about at 2 k rpm dosnt do the engine any good either. Plus you need to keep the Mayo off the filler cap.
A local dyno company had a customer bring his bike in. Gsxr as it happens, 750 slingshot. Complaint, down on power.
They ran it up, looked at the figures and the exhaust gasses or whatever they do, gave each other's knowing nod, ushered the owner out to the waiting room, then pinned the throttle repeatedly for the alloted time.
There you go sir. All sorted, back to full power.

Another pointer. My car never has Mayo on the filler cap. Not even the slightest sign.
...until they put a contro flow and average speed limit of 50 on part of my commute on the m4.
Now when I get home, there's a slight milky film inside on the cap.
As TB often says, the filler cap is a good sign of what is happening in the breathers as both sit outside the engine. If you have Mayo on the filler cap, you have Mayo in the breathers. ....and the engine isn't getting warm enough, as your not trying hard enough. ;)
....or your commute won't allow the engine to get warm enough.

I popped out this morning to give one of mine a bit of a run as it's not been out for a couple of weeks.....I took it down mine and CG'S own private motorway namely the A329M got it up to *** mph and gave myself a bit of a scare as it was a bit damp out there first thing....can't say much more than that ::)

Webby , the only thing I will say is keep your oil fresh and dont test the rpm limiter at the N position :y

No issues, but let it do at least 3 or 4 miles (not just for temp to hit right spot on gauge), and give it a couple of miles to calm back down. But between those times, there is only one throttle position.

As long as the Yanks keep fracking and the price of fuel keeps going down, then it's OK to keep flooring it!! :y :y :y
