Stumbled across this YouTube video tonight. What a marvellous thing! ;D
This was (apparently) a training video for the Austin Rover sales guys. I love it.

I was talking the owner of a MKII Granada GhiaX estate that still had its TRX metric rims on. When I commented on them, he told me he'd recently replaced all four at a cost of ................... £265 EACH!!!!!!!!!! :o

Agree about those metric tyres. I had a MG Montego. Over £100 a tyre back then (93)

Cringe...cringe......cringe.
Even today though a Montego Turbo is as quick as some 'hot hatches'.

Couldn't bare to watch it.

Mine needed some attention; all the front bushes, one front wheel bearing and CV joint, all four tyres(metric as mentioned) and both front shocks.
If you floored it at 70mph, you needed to be in the middle lane of an empty motorway. Pulled like a train for as long as you dared to hold on!

I had the later Montego Turbo with the criss-cross alloys. Anyone that owned one will remember a certain thing about them...............torque steer. :o :o
It was a lively car in its day. :y

I used Avons on mine... even in 2002 they where 'only' £90 each as opposed to £200 odd for the Michelin ones :o
A fair few cars used them iirc... Peugeot 505/604 Gti, BMW 6 and 7 series and the 2.8i Granadas to name a few...

Back then it was cheaper for me to buy four brand new wolfrace alloy wheels and tyres than it was just to replace the Dunlop Denovo run flats fitted to my 1275GT. :o
