.....`twas the impossibly tight-turn (out of sight) behind the hotel that said CGI to me. ;)

Definately fake. As said, a couple of hundred tons of airliner without flaps extended won't turn 270 degrees that tight. It won't fly that slow without stalling and hence when it hits the water at 200 kts plus it'd make more than a splash! The only reason he'd have tried to stretch it over a built up area would be the make it to a runway and he'd be in landing configuration if that were the case.

A good effort though. I like the way the engines are heard just to spool down gracefully when they hit the water. ;D They've obviously decided to spare us the shards of compressor blade flying up the beach and impaling the sunbathers.
