there seem to be 13 different part numbers for omega rear springs and 2 for mine - fl 2.6 V6 saloon not armoured not police with removable tow bar and self levelling.
90295666 (7x) is for self levelling and 90295666 (10x) for use with removable tow bar. any idea which is correct for my car? what does the 7X and 10X mean?
some sellers are saying one spring fits all omegas which seems plausible, are the different vx part nos for a 'spring kit' perhaps including the bits that dont break and I dont need?
other sellers offer a right and left version, seems very unlikely.
thanks
just noticed eurocarparts say theirs are only for cars without ride height adjustment, whys that? theyre not cheap either £62 a pair.

Those part numbers are the same ::) not much of a decision...
The ECP springs are for cars without self levelling, regardless of towbar... They will fit your car, but might make the rear end a bit firmer without affecting ride height :-\ If this is the case, probably not a bad choice :y

To add 7x and 10x are references to the parts on the relevant image in the epc :y

Self levelling will work with ANY springs, so given SL is so soft it won't hurt to firm it up with stiffer springs.
But to answer your q I guess it depends if you have a tow bar or not? Personally I'd fit the firmest possible but each to their own. :)

sorry I gave the wrong second part number the two listed are 90295666 (self levelling) and 9193197 (used with removable towing attachment). My car has self levelling and the removable tow bar.
two suppliers are telling me they don't have the springs for the self levelling. is the self levelling spring just softer?
-
Yes, very much softer. All Elites are. Comfy though.
Afaik they are dealer only or kyb which are alleged to rust quickly. Although I had a set of kyb's and they seemed ok to me.
Depends on your preferance in ride quality I guess. If you feel there is too much roll for YOUR driving style then go firmer. Standard gls cd cdx etc. mv6 lsc are firmer still if you can get them.
-
I need to replace the shocks too i think i will go for non self levelling due to the outrageous cost. shame as i like the soft ride. i assume i can just replace existing with non self levelling. whats the tow bar bit all about though?
-
Tow bar weighs more. So hence you need firmer springs.
But if your removing self levelling, you need standard shocks, so then you MUST NOT have sl springs.
In other words fit standard shocks and springs as a set.
-
It may be that the Vx tow bars are heavier still, as they are removeable/retractable, or whatever pikeys getup to with them. :P
Just fit stock shocks and springs. And consider matching same on the front when the time comes. :y
