Out old 'Fat Lab' was put to sleep, age 13 1/2 we have known for some time that the day was looming, but is still a hard decision to make, along side veterinary advice, she simply had little quality of life, poor balance, back legs kept giving way and a tumor on her thyroid....... :'( :'(
The decision was made yesterday but to allow various family members to say their good byes the deed was done today - no one wanted to come with me.
I remember when we bought her saying to swmbo that one day in the future we will have this to come, Miss Vamps was about 11 months old when we got her, Master Vamps was just 9.........................
RIP Turbo.................. :'( :'(

Bless sorry to hear this, just make sure the cat is ok tho,as they can suffer with depression,my cat did when i split with ex and took the dog,cat wasnt happy for a few months,as they were very close to each other.

Sad news Mr Vamps. :'( Although I'm sure that Turbo had a happy life with the Vamps family. :)
-
Always sad ...but it is something all pet owners have to face eventually .. no matter how hard we wish it .. they just don't live as long as we do..... A good but short life, and the minimum of suffering at the end is the best we can offer them.
13 1/2 is a damned good run for a Lab :y :y

I feel for you, always hard saying goodbye :'(

I know it's very easy to state the blindingly obvious, but do remember the good times. Even when you know it's the right decision, it's a horrible task to carry out. Clarkson summed it up when he said it's achingly sad when they die .......... & it is. :'( :'( :'(
Chin up in the Flood house hold
I can still get upset when I think about taking Sophie to the vets for the last time last year. :( :(
-
Thanks for the kind words peep's............. :y
She has been the perfect dog, as has the cat, for a family pet and we have only ever had good times with her, she used to love the Caravan (Static) in the summer and would spend hours down by, and in, the river with Master Vamps and his friends; everyone in our village knows who 'Turbo' is, it will soon filter through the village doggy world.......... :)

A sad day indeed :'( As said, focus on the good times and chin up ;)

Sorry for your loss :(

Sorry to hear of your sad lose :(
-
Sorry to hear that V - sympathies from MrsGK and I.

I have a tear in my eye so you must feel pretty awful. A good age for a Lab, we seem to lose ours between 10 and 11 and Bonzo is just over nine.
When Niblet went last year it was only a matter of days before the Labrador rescue were called, mainly because Bonzo was so out of sorts and went grey overnight. He was back to normal when Mocca arrived, so the family is complete again.
You have my deepest sympathy :'(

Sorry to hear the sad news...
We had to take our 3 year old Yorkie (Dave) to the vets a couple of years ago as he wasn't eating or drinking, turned out he had liver failure, needless to say he didn't come home with us... He'd already survived Parvo at 18 months old...

Sorry to hear this Vamps. Although a difficult time for the family, it is an invaluable lessons for kids as they grow up.
That said, I have never found it easy when any of my dogs have passed. :'(
Chin up :)

Really sorry to hear this mate. Alf (my cat) was put to sleep a few years ago. Couldnt stop crying about it for ages.
Hope youre all ok
-
Yes, sorry to hear that. On the plus side she had a good innings in a good environment.
It must be a very hard decision to make.

Sad news, Mr Vamps. :'(
How is Miss Vamps taking it?
-
Very sorry for you Vamps. I can clearly remember the day I had to put our beloved Cairn (19.5) down, but not the day my mother died! Mind you, I didn't have her put down. :y

As all pet owners know, we get ridiculously attached to our pets, which always makes it hard when the fateful day arrives. It is like losing a family member.
-
They're part of the family aren't they.I know when my previous dog-only a mongrel-was put down,I'd had her 18yrs one of the hardest things I've had to do.I went home, sat down and cried like a baby!!!

Your spot on there TB
Mike, sounds like she had one hell of a good innings and a great life.
Bottom line is she isn't suffering now and you and your lot have lots of great memories
Sorry for your loss :(

:'( :'( :'(
I don't even want to think about this. :(
-
Sad news Vamps.. :(
I'm sure Turbo had a good comfortable life..and no more suffering from old age problems..
-
At least she's at peace on the worst night of the year for dogs, thinking on...
-
I'm really sorry to hear of your Labs passing Mike :'(
We take them for granted when they're here but they leave a bloody great hole in your heart when they go!
Take comfort in knowing you gave her a loving, caring home and each gave the other some of the best times of your lives :(

Sad news, Mr Vamps. :'(
How is Miss Vamps taking it?
Not very well at all................ :( :( She has had a good cry and is presenting well, but hiding behind modern day communication I keep getting links to Border Collie Pups, with 'reasoned argument' We can not have a puppy, we both work full time so no good for a puppy and despite what Miss Vamps thinks Granddad will not look after it through the day..... ::) ::) ;) :(

Dont give in, Mike. My wife and son pestered me for our westie for years, promised thatthey would take care of any vets visits, take her for long walks on evenings and weekends and all I would have to do was a short walk during the day and feed her.
Well guess what.? I have to plan my bleeding day around something I didn't even want now. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but she's a pain in the arse some days.
The dog is ok though. ;D
-
sorry to here about your dog vamps , the only consolation is you did everything for her and she had a great life. i love all our animals and it does hurt when you lose one. I think i'm getting softer the older i get :(
