Title: Best Corsa owners club?
Post by: Varche on 05 November 2014, 19:49:16
We are now the proud owners of a 2006 UK based VX Corsa. Nice car with an electric sunroof. Never seen one before on an older Corsa.

Anyway, thought I had better join a forum just in case anything goes wrong with it.

Which would be the best to join please? I don't want to pimp it or mod it, just fix it if it develops a problem.

I think given the combo of the demographics of car and internet, you may struggle...  ...I did with the Rover

Ask Tonygnome he's the corsa expert innit.  ;D
He keeps trying to get me to drive his suspensionless shopping trolley.

Ask on here. Why bother with a corsa forum? It's a vauxhall and not inherently different to an astra or any other model. Ask on here and your likely to get the answer you need in minutes......innit?  ;D

This isn't a forum test.

We found a lovely 1.4 auto, low mileage 2006 car. Ticked all the boxes. all dashboard lights went off as they should.

Took it for the test drive and floored the throttle out of the yard and the EML came on and it was gutless e.g. flooring it at 30. Fine up to 30 from rest.

Flashed the codes out -  210 and 6. Logged on to their free WiFi while the guy gave us his endless spiel and add ons e.g. compulsary £98 admin fee. £500 for some warranty or other. Embarrassingly couldn't find what they meant. The salesman collared a mechanic who said it would be a lamda problem. Sounded reasonable . No room for negotiation on price at all (Main dealer) so walked.

You see a lot of that these days ....... just build it into the price & then I won't feel like/know I've been ripped off as much.  >:(

Nearest I can find is U2106, CAN fault, no comms with TCM

I thought that too but there was a definite break between the 210 before the 6.

OK, to answer your original question.

You can either have a go on one of the Corsa C Forums, where you will be advised to put a big exhaust on it, "cuz dat is well wikid, man"

Or, VXON, which has unfortunately died a death. (I must cancel my £15 a year membership).

Or ask your questions here?

Does that better answer your question?

As for the Fault Code, I'd say the TCM module is knackered.

Impressive if its based on 10 minute activity, but poor if based on an hour (by the disconnected nature of web browsing, there is no such thing as concurrent users).

OOF is based on 10 or 15 mins (can't remember which, let me check)

15 mins on OOF. So if your browser has contacted our server in the last 15 mins, you will show as online. The "most online" is the most that has been online within that specified time limit.

Corsa 1.4 with the Z14 or A14 (post 2008) engine variant, single cam chain driven cams (long stroke version of the 1.2), cast iron block and alloy heads and twin port tech, cam phasing on Z variants.

Available with 4 speed (Aisin) auto or 6 speed semi auto (crap)

What else do you want to know?

Well it seems as though it has a 2.0 litre engine. Might need some help with the headgasket for a start. Might also have to join a Calibra forum.

Here is the car http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Corsa-C20let-320-350-bhp-NOT-nova-c20xe-Z20let-vxr-gti-/161472313662?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item25987ff93e

Bit disappointed in how small the boot is compared to an Omega

Might as well get some coil overs too CapnZok;D

Remember it's not low enough if you can negotiate a speed bump at above a snail's pace.

Typical Barry logic;

Pay good money for a decent FMIC and then cover half of it with a bloody number plate.

First thing I'd do with that is take the plate off and stick in the the windscreen, like all me other mates, innit.

There's only so much charge cooling you need to do laps round town taking bits off your front bumper with the speed bumps and looking at your reflection in shop windows. I suspect the current setup is more than adequate in that respect. ::)

Ah, so I can lower it more, if I cut off my pie-arm ;D
