Hopefully not over pressurising, and just a failed cap, or possibly split round the filler neck going by old posts.

If not pressurising then either the cap has failed... in which case, replace it...

Or the tank has failed... check for cracking around the neck...

My money is on the cap though :-\

I'm confused.

Is your expansion tank overflowing with cap on? If so surely you can see where it's pishing out from?

Or as usual have i missed the point?  ::)

I'm sure a tenner is about the going rate for a header tank on OOF. probably cheaper than a new Vx cap, at a guess. I'd have thought most memebrs have their old yellowed ones in the garage, that they replaced with nice new white ones...?

If its not pressurising, it has to have a leak?  Clearly it has, around bottle/cap.  Has the bottle been inspected yet?

Cap releases pressure at about 30psi and will over flow with cap on. There's is a release valve in the black bit with two holes in on the under side.

My guess !

Mine too but with it comes the temp gauge maxing out with the warning light on and rock solid coolant hoses just before the cap releases the excess pressure.
