would be very greatfull of any help guys :-[

Is your main radiator 'one nearest engine' cold when engine up to temperature ?
-
Thermostat.
If waterpump - loss of water

What was the temperature gauge showing?
-
Does it happen when you turn the heater off? :-\
-
main rad is hot and temp goes up to 95 then then overflows from header tank and heater blows cold
-
You have got the rad cap on tho????
-
yes rad cap on tight and heater on or off still does it ive taken overflow pipe off top corner of rad and not a lot coming out even when revs are picked up
-
Sounds like the cap might have failed :-\ replace with new and try again :y
-
Hopefully not over pressurising, and just a failed cap, or possibly split round the filler neck going by old posts.
-
no not pressurising as no pressure when i release the cap and still nothing flowing from top hose from rad to header tank :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\
-
If not pressurising then either the cap has failed... in which case, replace it...
Or the tank has failed... check for cracking around the neck...
My money is on the cap though :-\
-
Fingers crossed on the cap :y
Not expensive, thankfully. Also good known used spares plentiful :)
-
Day off today so new water pump and rad cap but when left running header tank still overflows now I'm starting to Scratch my head :(
-
I'm confused.
Is your expansion tank overflowing with cap on? If so surely you can see where it's pishing out from?
Or as usual have i missed the point? ::)

Did you inspect the neck of the tank :-\
-
I'm sure a tenner is about the going rate for a header tank on OOF. probably cheaper than a new Vx cap, at a guess. I'd have thought most memebrs have their old yellowed ones in the garage, that they replaced with nice new white ones...?

Anybody want the remains of mine ::)

Its in my garden ;D
Anyway my monies on a partially blocked rad for diagnosis , rad can have hot and cold spots ..you have to check all over :(
-
If its not pressurising, it has to have a leak? Clearly it has, around bottle/cap. Has the bottle been inspected yet?

Proving to be an elusive answer :-\

Cap releases pressure at about 30psi and will over flow with cap on. There's is a release valve in the black bit with two holes in on the under side.

+1 :y

Not rad not cap or header tank therostat jammed solid so new one fitter tomorrow and that is for all the suggestions guys and once fixed and washed I will put some Pics up
-
My guess !
-
My guess !
Mine too but with it comes the temp gauge maxing out with the warning light on and rock solid coolant hoses just before the cap releases the excess pressure.
-
Agreed, depending on who and when this all is checked. :y
-
well thanks for all the help and tips guys n girls but its down to being head gasket so the old girl has now been put in the garage and started stripping so off road til after xmas so i can take my time sorting it and get her back up and running but minus AC :y

And yet it was the head gasket. :o :o :o

When my miggy kept doing that-it was a blockage in throttle butterfly housing-unblocked it with airline :o
