As above really, have had to top up the coolant on the Mig periodically, not really worried as it was not often, however I topped it up on Thursday and Friday, now today swmbo tells me that the coolant warning is on again and the temp gauge showing high; heater working so thinking thermostat?............. :-\ :-\ Either way will be going to our local independant tomorrow...........Bloody Cars............ ::) ::)

Try it set at significantly different climate temp setting :y

Odds on the Indy will tell you hg.
Leak could be any of the usual suspects. But given the rate of loss, I'll go with oil cooler cover plate.
-
Sadly, you need to visually inspect. It could be anywhere...
-
Pressure test if hbv test* reveals nothing.
*engine running, up to temp. Cycle hbv through hi and lo on cc, while checking by hand on the hbv for leaks.

Look underneath. if coolant dripping off tut bellhousing cha\nces are its HBV.
If no coolant there check the cooler plate

Nah. Could be HBV, but on a V6 could also be stat, cooler plate, HG, coolant bridge, or the seals between the large transfer pipe and the block. Less likely, but has been seen before, is core plug.
All drip in same place.

...there is rarely a coolant leak on an omega that doesn't end up on those bolts young bear. It's just a case of weather it evaporates off before it gets there, which obviously shows how bad the leak is, but sadly not where the leak is.
... Didn't read TB's post first though did I! :-[ ;D

Wow, hold up. I was fully expecting the Indy to diagnose HG. Not for one momment did I suspect HG.

I know! that's why I was able to report no white smoke, so that put that idea out of his mind...... :y :y

All sorted, Indy admitted he would have struggled more, had I not pointed him in the right direction, thanks to the advice on OOF.............. :y :y

The part was more expensive than I expected, can't remember the price of hand but had heard on here that it was only £15.oo, I challenged this but he showed me the bill from Vx so could hardly argue, told him he had been ripped off by them, but had no evidence to hand......... ::) ::) ;)
